If they wanted it to be believable they should’ve at least put a few uh’s and you know’s in the quote.

  2. Kick2TheSternum

I also see this on LinkedIn a lot and report it every time.

  3. TheKrustyTowers

Is there anything he can’t do? /s

  4. Calb210

I only ever get the Jesus ads on Reddit. Wonder what that means.

  5. hobojoe789

I definitely look to professional hockey players for financial advice

  6. SatchBoogie1

Why is that CBC reporter even sharing it as news?

EDIT: Thanks for commenting it’s a fake page on a different link. I definitely overlooked that in the screenshot.

  7. Not a fan of your title, OP. Sounds like he’s a willing participant in this.

  8. Awkward-Bunch-1148

They are promoting him better than the NHL has.

  9. CanucksKickAzz

I’ve reported/blocked so many ads, and literally 15 posts later I see it again. Let’s face it, there’s nobody in the reporting department.

  10. chiddie

Reddit seems to brazenly disregard ad standards.

  11. certifiedVampMoment

reddit supporting scams? i thought redditors told me this platform is better than tiktok twitter or instagram😠

  12. BlueBeagle8

Man I wish someone had told me that this was a scam before I invested all my first round picks in Griffin Reinhart

  13. WeWantTheCup__Please

If you ever see something claiming to “scare big _____(insert industry here)” or to be an opportunity to “make millions” it’s almost certainly a scam. All of these scam adds use nearly identical verbiage, and what sucks is they take such little effort to put together that if they work even a single time it’s worth it for the scammer

  14. Original-Cow-2984

The scammers hijack all kinds of celebrities, and it’s not just reddit.

  15. zzzpoohzzz

according to these images, dude can’t even afford a blade on his hockey stick.

  16. _OilersNation_

Hilarious to think that McDavid is out here being the best in hockey yet still has time to strike fear in the big Banks, Connor you are a hero

  17. WiggleRespecter

Spez is the face of an ipo scam being promoted on his investors

  18. chocotripchip

You guys have ads on Reddit?!

How people can use the internet without an Ad Blocker still makes no sense to me.

  19. InevitableAvalanche

I only take financial advice from people who have won a cup. Kurtis MacDermid is my guy.

  20. iraduloveit

How do they have a fake article on cbc

  21. iBlurrr

I’d hook up with Galchenyuk for advices

  22. He invested in GME and held. Diamond hands! MOASS any day now!

  23. mars_titties

I also hear Elon Musk is giving away money to all Canadians!

  24. livesinatoaster

no need to invest. just make roblox games

  25. SomeJerkOddball

Yeah, I’ve seen how he impressed he was with himself after putting a TV in his bathroom. He’s got his rocket maths sorted out for sure.

  26. esports_consultant

That investment? Rogers Place Stanley Cup Finals tickets.

  27. _Halt19_

ah yes, “datainscience.site”, my favourite means of accessing cbc news

  28. pattperin

I used to never even see this kind of shit in my feed but now that I’m forced onto the reddit app it’s literally mixed into my scrolling. Yet another reason baconreader was superior. Their ads were for real life things like Amazon.ca and it was just at the bottom of my screen, I barely even noticed them. Now it’s impossible to not see this shit.

  29. Fuck there’s so much win in this thread holy

  30. You can tell its a scam because the NHL would never market McDavid

  31. LasVegasBoy13

McDavid and Draisaitl have been scamming the Oilers out of winning a cup since 2014 so this is old news really

  32. But Connor already convinced me to gamble all of my money on sports!

  33. _zerokarma_

The top stickied comment is not entirely true, Reddit has their own Ad system that you can pay them directly for Ads on Reddit. You can pick which specific subreddits you want to target too.

  34. Joesdad65

Only an idiot would even click on a Reddit ad, let alone believe it.
