I would slot in guys like Voronkov, Chinakhov and Texier instead of Bemstrom and Olivier for the forward group. On the back end, Peeke is probably going to play ahead of either Bean or Boqvist, and Jiricek will push to become a regular as well.
If they can finish the year in the 80-89 point range, it’s a great step in the right direction. Anything above 90 would be outstanding. Best way to do that is to win the games you’re supposed to and see if you can keep playing some meaningful games come March and April.
Very very underrated fourthline
Team with playoff potential but the back end and goaltending on top of injuries are too concerning. middle six has breakout potential but ranks pretty low. could be a fun team to watch although if they get as many injuries as last year we’ll be seeing a lot of the same
Bottom line, the Blue Jackets have to stay healthy. Having 500 man-games lost to injuries won't win you anything. The one I remember vividly is the Lightning when they won their first Cup in 2004. That team had something like 26 man-games lost to injury and apart from Vinny Lecavalier in his prime, didn't have that spectacular a roster. But they kept their best players playing and over the course of a full season that builds chemistry and that builds success. On paper, Columbus has a pretty good roster. If they can fill the GP column with a bunch of 82's then they should make the playoffs. But if that Games Played column ends up with a lot of 40- and 50-somethings it'll be like last year.
