The appointment of Burgess was made by star-struck management who think he’ll raise the profile of the club. A PR stunt. It wont last, mark my words! Your club lacks substance.
As an ex Wire regular attendee at Wilderspool Stadium, but now from afar. Not sure what you are wanting or expecting. As John Wilkin recently said, This is sport, it's entertainment, so why not pull a PR stunt (if that's all it is). But it could be a lot more than that. Look at all the BIG names that have pulled on the primrose and blue. PR stunts that gave huge RL delight to the terraces. There should be nothing but praise for the owners and CEO for this one. They (like us) have to believe what the incumbent sets out and promises. Who knows how different the following mths will be. (i.e. the last 18mths) If you can find any comfort in this, I can, (but your youthful looks suggest you won't) remember one of the biggest stunts the Wire pulled off. A chap from St Helens, been player coach at Leigh, had won the Challenge Cup (with debateable tactics) and then came to Warrington. Built a team of players that other clubs didn't want, signed big names (mainly from S Wales), fed them on raw liver and won everything. Beating Saints became the norm. He didn't do so bad for us and then went on to be hugely successful as a coach, MBE and is RL Royalty. A true genius on the field and leader on and off. (hope you have worked this out). Big similarities here, so be positive, give it a chance. I wasn't inspired by any of the names being mentioned ( Lee Briers, the exception but he deserves everything at the Bronco's, with Kevin and Alfie (ex Wire)). So why not Slamming Sam. Give him your support.
