I still think Pettersson will wait and see how the season goes for Vancouver. If the Canucks get off to a bad start once again and it looks like another year of no playoffs I think he might say I want to go somewhere else. While yes, he loves Vancouver, he has also said he wants to win, and the ownership and the front office in Vancouver have shown no ability to build a contending team.
as a canucks fan i think its crazy to head into the season with him un-signed. now its just gonna be a huge distraction and the media is constantly gonna be talking about it. the cap will go up, just get this done P.A.

Petterson leaving would actually be the best case scenario for Vancouver. This core should've been blown up years ago already, and the longer Petterson stays in Vancouver, the more convinced management is that they're contenders, even though they need to rebuild. Losing him would finally be their wake up call. Especially because if Petterson is gone, so is Quinn.

Your right man, vancouver is beautiful, BC is an amazing place to visit. I just wish the canucks matched that beauty. Im not a canucks fan by any means, but look at what they are doing……….what are they thinking?!?!?! I mean really i hope they are smart enough to see that they are actively pushing the 2 best and YOUNGEST assets out the door!, stupid moves and terrible contracts, and when they ACTUALLY find a player that embodies what they need what do they do? Take them through the ringer to try and save some dollars, and while i understand why they maybe be tempted to going that route, you still have to pay your stars. Especially ones that are young and that will actually still be around once you put effort into better scouting and make better deals to surround them, bottom line really

As a nucks fan this worries me
I'm from Vancouver and a similar age to Pettersson. Everyone I know who knows him on a surface level or something (goes to 12west with him and knows where he lives dt) all have positive things to say about him. Apparently he was a fucked tenant when he was younger but since then has built a great relationship with the building manager where he lives.
Ik none of this has any impact on how people perceive Petey as it's just a random guys comment – but everything I've heard about him is that he is happy with Vancouver to a point where I don't think the teams direction matters as much to him.

The problem is that even if Pettersson is gone once he reaches UFA status, Miller still has that ridiculous contract, Demko will have a couple of more years left, and the same with Hughes, so after all this time, ownership may double down on making the playoffs and there still won’t be a rebuild. The team lost their captain (as much as some fans pretend that’s a good thing now) and that wasn’t a big enough wake up call. My guess is that even when Hughes and Pettersson leave and they’re basically left with Miller and jobbers, they’ll still be delusional about where they are.
