Habs can only retain another 25% of Petry's salary ( max 50%) see CBA
Petry still has 15 team NTC. Most of west conference & west coast are no go's. Dallas & Detroit are preferred destinations and Dallas more likely
I don't think Hughes will retain 2.34M for 2 years. Not for a 2nd round pick. It would be an awesome bargain for a team to get a 30+ def for only 2.34M for 2 years (31 pts in only 61 games). At that very low AAV, the cost would be no less than a 1st round pick, especially a like 26-32 overall pick from Colorado. If Hughes retains 1M for 2 years, the AAV is still very reasonable @3.68 AAV for only two years and a 2nd round pick would make sense in that scenario.
Petry will go but maybe not until the dust clears mid training camp when the injury issues are clear.
Big question is will Hughes allow Petry to risk injury in pre-season games?
Is Edm on Petry's no trade list? I bet it is!
Goaltending issues may surprise, Montembault is clearly not a long term solution, maybe if the return is better Montembault goes.
What is Kent Hughes 'grade' on a scale of 0% to 100% (Sam Pollack)? I say 75%. It's hard to compare people, let alone different eras, but Hughes is very impressive. I hope he continues with us for a long time. I hope he surpasses Pollack one day.
Petry will not be around long…we can not afford to keep a part of Petry's salary or we are giving him away for nothing especially to a cup contender…….Allen looks like odd man out…Petry will not go out west…
I understand that Dallas has no tight handed defenive players on their roster. If that is true, they may well wish to aquire Petry.

Whatever happens to Petry is good, but please do not let go of Montembeault.
retasining 50% on petry should get us at least a pair of 2nds, or a late first.

Hi Coach, thanks for another good video on HABs Daily News-rumors. Petry has probably blocked all western teams on his no trade clause. This is Kent Hughes's second go-around with Petry so he probably knows who will be interested. Not so sure Yzerman wants him but obviously Chicago would have inside info. At the trade deadline may get a second rounder but more likely a third unless Hughes sweetens the pot with another asset. Cheers
