The Coyotes will likely submit other letters of intent before narrowing the search down to one location for a new arena.

  1. STILL a bad idea. This is like that line from the movie Argo – "This is the best bad idea we have…by far." NEED to play in downtown Phoenix. Do what you have to do to make that happen. Shannon said it best that its a big market. It is, its just been poorly managed and executed due to the first arena not built for NHL hockey and the second arena being off the beaten path. Hockey needs to play in the downtown areas, thats where most people with money are at 7 pm, thats where most tourists/visitors are, thats where it is centrally located to a region.

  2. Can the Coyotes just relocate to Utah, Houston, or Kansas City and end this clown show already? Gary Bettman, you’ve got your successful desert hockey team in Vegas, there is no reason to keep the Coyotes in Arizona anymore, GIVE UP!

  3. If only the NHL believed in Atlanta nearly as much as they believed in Arizona.

  4. Being an Arizona fan may be suffering, but at least it's not boring.

  5. This is so dumb lol. Just move them already. Slc or Houston. Way more hockey fans in Utah that's for sure

  6. cooley was so fun to watch for the mn gophers he will be a star for a long time

  7. Cooley is probably the 2nd or 3rd best prospect so saying 1st isn’t that extreme

  8. I wonder if the Coyotes realized a few years back that they continually went thru rebuild after rebuild with little to no playoff results, so they decided to commit to this years long deep rebuild. The hope is that they finally figured out how to correctly build a successful franchise and hopefully get into a few playoff years.

  9. Can we not just move the team to houtson already, arizona doesnt work, moving 4 times in 20 years should prove that

  10. as an arizona native, i just want the yotes to get out of our state already. its just embarrassing at this point. they are a stain on our great state.

  11. You know, Urinating Tree put it best. It's not that other cities in Arizona don't want a hockey team. They just don't want the Coyotes. Really, the only viable option is just to move the Yotes elsewhere, let that franchise get a fresh start under new ownership, and then, when the bad taste of the Yotes has finally left the state of Arizona's mouth, then talk about either relocating a different team back to Arizona (like how Winnipeg resurrected the Jets from the ashes of the Thrashers), or else reintroduce hockey via expansion (kind of like how Minnesota got the Wild after losing the North Stars). As it is, the Coyotes as a brand is just too notoriously toxic to ever have a chance of succeeding in Arizona, plain and simple.

  12. The Coyotes are like an old, balding, shivering chihuahua that is blind in one eye, and sometimes looks dead while sleeping.

  13. So now instead of being in Glendale, which is 15 minutes from Phoenix’s center, they want to try to end up in Mesa which is even further East than Tempe. Will they attempt to purchase land in New Mexico, next?

  14. I'd hate to see Coyotes fans lose their team entirely. I'm of the opinion that it could definitely be a secsessful franchise once they put a good team on the ice, the question is weather or not they will last that long. I'm hoping they do

  15. A quick look at a map tells me that Mesa is better than Glendale, IF it's the western half of Mesa. The eastern half looks about as remote as the old arena

  16. Arizona, no disrespect to the normal people living there, is a hellhole filled with right wing lunatics of the QAnon type even in their own congress, there were never fans there, except at first because they inherited a team that was bound to be better and better and made some key signings (Roenick), after they dropped out of that short period of success, they never have been the same, and there's no attempt to make the team better because of the ridiculously small crowds, an argument that could be made for the Florida Panthers before, but no longer. Meanwhile the Videotron Centre in Quebec City is NHL standard and has the QMJHL Quebec Remparts playing there, to crowds of 25k every game. Oh, and don't worry about the CAD, the owner of Quebecorp is so well off, it doesn't even matter if players want to be paid in USD's. Although that arena was built when the exchange rate was practically the same….now it's 0,75 in average, a bummer for all of us Canadians buying online on a lot of markets but, that doesn't matter to a guy like Péladeau. If a new team in the west has to be created like Bettman says, so be it, the next commissioner likely won't be as idiotic and Bettman is on his last years as head of the NHL, one that would see the dilution of talent when they dared adding teams past the Wild and some franchises might have to merge into another one and I wouldn't mind there to be less than 30 teams, 28 would be just fine.

  17. I thought they’re called the Arizona Coyotes instead of Phoenix is because they want to appeal to the whole state

  18. wrong ! many of fan base , are not going to drive to mesa to watch hockey .. that's as bad as the location was in glendale ..
fake hockey fan meruelo found out wanting a toy to play with [ hockey team ] ,
isn't like playing monopoly .. you can't just put plastic pieces on a board and call it done ..
building a new arena where the veterans memorial colesium may be the best location as it is
CENTRALLY located in the phoenix metro area .. why is that not being considered ..
oh , that's right .. meruelo is looking to build an entertainment district ,
= luxury appartments , high dollar botique shops and expensive reataurants ,,
and , oh by the way ..a hockey arena ..
