What is the issue? It's not like he was signed to a 5 year deal at 4.1M, it's one year. He was plus player in Dallas except his last 2 years, so a former 67 pt RD on a one year contract is very likely to be motivated. Don't judge by the numbers playing on the dog-shit Ducks. If things don't go as Tree hopes they will, then you move on at the end of the 23/24 season. He only 30, 6' 3" and 198 lbs so as far as I'm concerned, a definite upgrade on Holl, who was -7 in the playoffs. Holl got pegged as the whipping boy for the slathering Leaf neanderthals, so he needed to move on. Odd how Yzerman thinks he's worth 3.4M x 3, with very little offence. Maybe it's because his defence is better than many Leaf self-proclaimed 'experts' said it was. Early days, so calm down.
I think its premature to judge the signing, later on in the year it may look good, there is no way Tre has finished yet. My fear is that he is not being allowed to operate freely, as Shanahan was on the phone telling the core 4 they were not going anywhere, a very stupid thing to do before bringing in a new GM. I guess we will get more of a feel when we see what happens with Nylander.
