it changes nothing. isles still a borderline playoff team. pens get another star player and win that trade but still not a cup contender. and you mean to tell me lou couldn't have pulled that deal off? pens unloaded several bad contracts and got a third team habs involved to facilitate that trade. yes pens are still up against the cap and can't do much more but they dumped granlund and petry while getting sj to eat some of karlsson deal, ($1.5 mill. on each remaining year). gave up a first, second too. lou couldn't have dumped palmieri or lee and pierre, get sj to eat some salary, and deal first, second and get a third team to facilitate same deal? you know lou is gonna deal that first anyway for a third liner during season. Isles could have had an all star instead that could have added some juice to isles offense/pp as isles stay at the cap. lou sickens me.

Hi Gil Welcome back we missed you Like I always say the Islanders are built from the goal out. comparing defenses it is not very close if you analyze it. Karlson does not hit ever. He is ALL OFFENSE. Pittsbugh goaltenders are not very good. Cubas is counting on Jarry. Look we need a scoring winger or two. Its Lou's move !!!!
No team in the league has 4 better centers than us. Horvat , Barzal, Wohlstrom, Maggio? have to score more.
hi Gil, welcome back, hope you are 100% real soon. maybe a brightside for us, Karlsson was a -26 last season, they also have 12 players 30 years old or older and of course they still think Jarry is an NHL caliber goalie, lol
Welcome back! I enjoyed this show and appreciated the Karlsson analysis. I was feeling annoyed by this trade, and I think you nailed the reason why. I am tired of other teams creatively addressing their challenges, and us just sitting aside as spectators. The three-way deal was complicated, but thought out and wish we could have structured something similar. I also agree that signing big names just for the headlines is fool-hardy. We have a real core of solid talent, with a lot of heart and commitment and big names may not always be in sync with that. #LGI
