According to FanDuel, the New Jersey Devils have the fourth-best odds of winning the Stanley Cup Final come next year. They have their two main pieces in Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier, but they still have some work to do this offseason. Also, Pierre LeBrun put out a theory as to why Jesper Bratt is continuing to stall his contract extension. The Devils might have to re-sign him to a short-term deal.

I’m ok with a 3-year deal at $6.5 per. At that point maybe Holtz, Clarke or Gritsyuk are ready for a top-6 role.
24:21 I don't think Jack or Nico will change their games to be more selfish. They're playmakers and they look to who has the best chance to score a goal over getting points for themselves. I think that's part of Devils' culture.
I am curious what Bratt's numbers would look like without Nico and Jack. I'm so curious about that cuz if he goes to another team I doubt he'll find guys as unselfish as our Captain and Super Star.
It seems like Bratter wants more money than the Devils are willing, at least at this point, to pay him. I'd be OK with a shorter-term deal at a little lower AAV.
As for the odds of winning next year's Stanley Cup, they could change depending on what the Devils decide to do with Bratter, Meier and in goal.

I love the optimism on the odds but honestly our team has a ways to go. The one thing I think needs to happen for this team is to gain more experience and more maturity before we start talking about the Stanley cup. This team from the whole isn't even close to their prime.
