I still say Nylander needs to go, you can't pay him anything close to what the other 3 get. $40mill covering 4 guys does not work, especially if Marner and Matthews will want a cap raise.
If the Leafs trade Brodie they had better have a great shutdown defenseman coming back somehow, if he gets traded and not replaced for what he brings, the Leafs are in big trouble.
Until the NHL starts holding refs accountable and start suspending players based on the action and not the jersey they are wearing,until that happens the LEAFS WILL NEVER WIN PERIOD.

I cant understand why they got Klingburg is it not possible that you could place Klingburg on waivers good chance that some team will grab him free up just over 4 mill in cap space ten bury a few of those cheaper contracts in the minors then with that money find yourself a big strong stay home shot blocking D man a guy you could use in that four or five spot as long as he is consistant but i think trading Brodie puts a huge defensive hole on the D an awfully big risk and tough to replace
I would much rather one of Nashville's defenders. The predators currently have 7 NHL caliber D, so one of Lauzon, Carrier, or Fabbro is likely gone.
Lauzon is making 2 million over the next 3 seasons, very physical but isn't the best defensively and is solid depth.
Carrier is making 2.5×1, is young, solid mobile minute-munching who is good at both ends despite being a bit undersized.
Fabbro makes the same amount as Carrier, is 25 and is good at both sides with offensive upside. He can play a stay-at-home style if needed, but would be a solid add beside a guy like Liljergren

Despite the fact they were turnover machines lolnot saying I know who Peeks is but when it comes to defining good or bad , I takes his articles with a grain of salt. His articles are entertaining though lol
Leafs are supposed to be in a win now mode, a project defense, doesn't work, unless he's got tons of upside. It appears this guy will be a Justin Hall # 2
Isn't the main point of trading Brodie to dump the cap hit?
The other real big reason other then 197 blocks Peeke had he also had 180 hits so that is also very needed after losing Schenn. Remember Schenn was a 3rd pair defense and he looked best paired with Rielly so I can see how Peeke would work.
God rest Bobby Baun and young Mr. Rodion. Brodie STAYS and bring Timmins up as a 5th or 6th Dman. Trade nylander and Lilgren get a top 4 Dman it's THAT simple!!
Yes there has to be some worry that there is some "grass is greener" with Peeke. His cap hit seems low but if you get him and dont like him you are committed for 3 years at multiple millions aav. I like your Holl comp. Swapping him for Brodie makes little sense to me. What upgrade is coming anyway. I doubt it's worth it to downgrade just to be able to ice a full roster
Keep eye on MARIO FERRARO AND Travis Sanhiem and Seth Jones and Cam Fowler and Niktia Zadorov and Roman Josi and Noah Hanifin but a big question mark because Noah Hanifin wants to play in US and their have been in leafs trade rumors and keep eye on the forward from leafs trade rumors that the leafs are still looking at players in the forward spot hear are a few names that have been in leafs trade rumors Michael Pezzetta and Joshua Anderson, Travis Konecny, Thomas Hertl, Frank Vatrano and Scott Laughton and Andreas athanasiou, Kevin Labanc have been in leafs trade rumors.

There is ZERO toughness on the backend period.. No one to clear the front of the net.. No one to put the fear of God if you Hack at the goalie, No one to fear a career ending hit if you come across the blueline with your head down… NO ONE… They need toughness.. Trade Nylander for a bonafide stud on the back end … PERIOD
I just hope the Klingberg signing with a MTC isn't a huge mistake.. I know it's only 1 year, but damn.. 4.15M in cap space for a more well rounded D? We also don't know which Gio we're getting this year. If he can't keep up anymore, what do we do?

Mark Giordano was getting top 4 minutes for most of last season. He can very certainly play 10-15 minutes a game effectively, and he blocks a lot of shots. He brings good morale, and I think the Leafs we’re playing him 20+ minutes each game last regular season. Whereas Andrew Peeke is just another Justin Holl.
