Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their thoughts on the shocking news of Amirov’s passing and the brave face he put on during a difficult part of his life. Mike and Dave also reflect on Bobby Baun’s life and what made him an important part of Leafs history but also some of his forgotten contributions to the game of hockey as well.

I worked the parking lot at Scotiabank Arena and one night Mr Baun drove up to the exit gates and i recognized him immediately. He signed a couple autographs for me and chatted a bit. A very nice gentleman. RIP sir.

Just a kid and an old war horse. R.I.P. I remember watching Baun basically playing with a broken leg in the playoffs in 64. One tough bugger. Rodion never even had a chance to get a start. Tough break. R.I.P. both .
RIP Bobby and Rodion. Brain Cancer is an insidious disease; that and Pancreatic Cancer stand out for the lack of progress we have made in the past 20 years, by comparison with other forms of the disease. Dave is right … its a very sobering diagnosis especially with a young person where the disease is often more aggressive and persistent. I feel awful for he and his family to have had him pulled away so early in life!
Bobby Baun could throw a hip check that was unbelievable. I saw him do it many times. It was fitting that two of best Leaf D men of my time wore number 21! Baun and Salming. RIP Bobby
