With the right level if support from either cole or soucy, hughes will be able to shine like the fucking diamond that he is

Reputation gives a boost, and so does team performance. If the team is in the playoffs, that strengthens Hughes’ chance of getting a nomination. Yes, Karlsson won last year on a shitty San Jose team, but his season was bannana muffins good. Reputation will build in time for Hughes.

Sounds about right. He may very well outperform some of those guys, but Norris votes have a reputational element.

If Tocchet’s system can dismiss the dumb “Hughes is bad at defense” narrative, that would be wonderful.

  5. He might not ever be the best defenceman in the league, but he’s got a very real chance of being the *highest scoring* defenceman in the league. That shouldn’t be the test for the Norris but…. Let’s face it, it often is.

Hughes is elite and will hopefully consistently earn a discussion for Norris votes. I think fourth is a great position amongst his company on that list.

  7. It’s think it’s fair to say he’s one of the 5 best defensemen in the league at this point. That’s not biased it’s just reality.
