They have been a little above middle of the pack for awhile, but need to take that next step in the playoffs.

  1. I think the ceiling is 3rd or 4th in the Central. Dallas and Colorado I think still are the top two, and I think it’s a three way race between us The Blues and maybe the Preds for those spots. Winnipeg is stripping it down, Chicago is still young and needs time, and the Coyotes are a meme. Overall I think they have the talent to compete, just hard to gauge how they stack up till the season starts.

  2. I think it’ll be a dog fight for STL, Minny and NASH. The stars and Avs are the clear cut one and two. However, Minny led by Kaprizov, the top line and still solid defense and goaltending should get them in.

  3. Nice team but can't see them getting ahead of Stars who continues to get better and Avs that if more healthy will be better no doubt.

  4. Until they get out from the buyout penalties, I don’t see the Wild as anything other than mid.

  5. This team seems to be stuck because of their dead cap money. However with the other teams in the division being weaker, they'll get in comfortably. 3rd in the Central with 96-101 points.

  6. The 14.473 million less dollars because of the Parise/Suter buy out will dramatically limit the chances of Minnesota to do anything for the next 2 years, cup wise. So many more exits than additions because of it.

At best barely making the playoffs and at worse barely missing the playoffs, unless Kaprizov gets severely injured early on, in that case the season is over.

  7. still a top 3 team in Central. Bill Guerin has done well. even with 14m in dead cap.
adding Pat Maroon will be worth in the playoffs, but keep a eye on Gustavsson, he's about to make Ottawa look stupid. like really stupid.

  8. Ik your a canucks fan thg but the reason for getting 2 lines going only makes me want Brock Boeser even more with the Canucks wanted to build around Petterson and Hughes give it some time like in the next 2 seasons and we pick him up
    Kaprizov Rossi Zuccarello
Boldy JEE Boeser would be deadly especially if Rossi pans out it would be a lot like Fiala being back except with a functioning center core and also with Khusnutdinov coming in that only give it more depth since he would also be on a rookie contract for cheap by then. Plus him being back home might revive his game back to that higher level especially with players like JEE and Boldy who I would make comparisons to play style as Bergeron and Rantenen be the all around center and the power forward with skill and a sniper is a deadly line then u add Kaprizov and Zuccarelloand a possible superstar in Rossi Ik I sound like broken record but this would be awesome.

  9. I didn’t even know it was THG season preview time until I saw this video about my Wild. Should be a playoff team but who knows.

  10. Also one thing I would like to add is although our history is bad the future is at least looking up with young’s stars on most of our teams like the wild have Kaprizov and Boldy, The Wolves got ANT and KAT, the Vikings have Jefferson and Hockenson and the twins although stiging have people like Correa and Buxton but the future is bright.

  11. Touching on a point you made, saying minn returning basically same team, like the isles! And yet there doesn't seem to be much there saying they wontale the playoffs, but many say the isles won't!!

  12. Minnesota didn't have much of a chance without Joel Eriksson Ek playing in the first round. He's their only good center and you can't beat a good team without at least one.

  13. They lost too much and I think they could miss the playoffs this year. And next year won't be better. … The year after that could be a HUGE season for them when the dead cap is finally gone. Their on-ice cap hit could grow by ~$20 million.

  14. If Faber has a good training camp/preseason, I think he has serious potential to be a mainstay on defense. The few games he played at the end of the season and in the playoffs, he looked rock solid. I suspect he'll be on the second line pairing with Brodin, and they will be a fierce shutdown duo.

Addison is easily the biggest question mark at the moment. It's clear that Evason doesn't gel with him and his lack of defensive sensibility. Getting Klingberg at the deadline meant Addison was scratched indefinitely because Addison shined as the guy running the first power play unit, and Klingberg gave Evason an excuse to ditch Addison in favor of Klingberg (despite Klingberg not running our power play particularly well). The power play was where Addison helped the team the most, and moving him off of it actively hurt the team. Evason can be stubborn, so this season I expect either Addison or Evason to be leaving, and I don't really expect Evason to be gone during the regular season. Another poor playoff performance might initiate that, however. But that looks more like an offseason move next year.

  15. Wild should have gotten rid of Darby and hired a new special team's coach. Hartman needed to go I like him but he was a liability last season.
