“He loved Vancouver, he loved being here”: Ekman-Larsson is selling his home in Kitsilano for $6.8 million

I don’t post a lot on Reddit, but thought everyone here would find this interesting. His house has an elevator and a rooftop deck: [https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/ekman-larsson-house-sale-kitsilano-canucks](https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/ekman-larsson-house-sale-kitsilano-canucks)

He’s still got value as a 3rd pairing defender, sucks that he had to go but on that contract I wanted him gone ASAP. Seems like a lovely guy, but being paid a metric fuck-ton of money in a flat-cap era is bound to have ramifications lmao

If he played better, he wouldn’t have had to sell his house and leave Vancouver

    > As a native of Sweden that had never lived in Canada prior to joining the Canucks in 2021, Ekman-Larsson’s realtor said he facilitated a “special skills exemption” so the NHL player could avoid paying a hefty foreign buyer luxury tax on the property.

Gross. Let the guy with tens of millions in career earnings pay his fair share on a $6.8M house for a 2-person household, please.

    6.8 million dollars… for 4 floors of ~750sq foot.

It’s a beautiful place, but I felt like that was just 4 of my apartments stacked on-top of each other.

Yeah well he plays like shit and that’s all I care for . Fuck you aqua man

It would not surprise me if he returns to Vancouver like Schenn to Tampa to win a cup before retiring

Ahhh this is why I used to see him in Safeway on 4th. Don’t think anyone else recognized him.

I feel bad for OEL. People hating on him even though it’s not his fault things didn’t work out. Benning acquired an offensive defenceman to play as a defensive defenceman. Took that hefty contract just to play on pp2 behind Quinn Hughes. Of course his numbers are going to drop. All this while forced to play with Myers randomly jumping up on the play for no reason. In the short time he’s here he played with 3 coaches and a broken foot in one season. Our team had no structure or system, just look at our PK. That’s what happens when you have a bunch of coaches telling you different things. Yes he was not worth what we were paying him, but it’s not his fault we willingly took that contract.

Aquilini’s basically giving him three of these houses, just to go away and not play hockey.

OEL loved the Vancouver lifestyle, unfortunately his play didn’t live up to the contract. Sad to see him go but he was an anchor on our bottom pairing

and of course he’s listing it like this to get more money from a celeb owning this previously…

fuck off lol, and fuck you for avoiding taxes. meanwhile I slave away paying my share without complaint…
