  1. Let me know your thoughts on todays news and proposed trade between the Habs and Blues

  2. I’m surprised Armstrong hasn’t done more. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t tried. Of course Krug messed up one big deal but still. Without some changes on the blue line it looks like it will be a long season in St. Louis. Idk why Armstrong would make this deal to be honest. Scandella is available and I don’t think kapanen is the guy they thought he was when Armstrong traded for him essentially it’s a first for Anderson. Idk if it’s a deal the blues would be interested in or not. Everything I’ve read the blues are very high on Hofer. I guess we’ll see soon

  3. Anderson needs to stay in montreal, unless we get something major in returnbi feel like Anderson is a big piece of the line up and could be for a while

  4. I don’t think that trade would make much sense for the Blues. They will likely be at the bottom of the league this year, so why would they give up such a valuable 1st rounder for players that more than likely wouldn’t improve the team

  5. Blues get out of Scandella's contract, Kapinen is a borderline NHL level player who seems to get overpaid constantly, so that's a good deal to get out of. They get a 20 goal power forward, and a serviceable back up goalie. 1st round pick is the blocker. The Habs get 2 lawsy contracts for a year, so 1st rounder would be the main goal, they obviously have to get something meaningful. Blues would likely agree to a good player off their roster, or a high level prospect instead of the 1st round pick.

  6. That deal makes no sense. No one in that deal is worth a first round. Also the Blues need to remove salary not add.

  7. No chance the Blues will take on an unskilled 29 year old player with a contract over 5 million for multiple years. The Blues want younger players in their early or mid twenties.

  8. Blues aren’t trading a first unless it’s lottery protected and even then I still don’t think that happens. The blues need to get first rounders from other teams not trade their 1st. This blues team as currently constructed is a bottom 6-10 in the NHL and that pick is extremely important could turn into a Dickinson, Kiviharju, Mews and etc.

  9. Blues aren't going to give away cap relief with expiring contracts when it doesn't include an upgrade at D/Krug. I could see the Blues making a move for Hanifin that might include Scandella, Kapanen, Perunovich and a #1.

  10. 29 year old 5.5M AAV middle 6 guy who has never hit 50 points in his career and the blues are going to pay a good 1st round pick for him!? 😂 He 1000% has less value than Oliver Bjorkstrand and he returned peanuts for the Blue Jackets. Unless its a top end player or a good player on an expiring contract at the TD, nobody is getting good value right now with the flat cap. And definitely not any value for Josh "32 point" Anderson. The other half of the trade is not great either. Blues already have Zherenko and Subban slated for Springfield with Hofer getting the backup spot. I dont see where DeSmith fits. As much as id like to see the blues get rid of Scandella, paying a 3rd and Kapanen is short sighted when he'll be gone in a year and Kapanen could be worth a 3rd at the trade deadline. Blues need three things: gain short term cap flexibility, acquire a legit top 6 RW, and trade one or more of their top 4. This proposal fails to do any of the three.

  11. No go: Works for blues not for Habs; unless they want a higher pick.
Kaponen has real attitude issues. Not welcome in Habs room

  12. This trade does nothing for the Blues. We do not need a goalie or a veteran player. To give up a first rounder is also something we do NOT need to do.
We need to stand pat and suck it up this year. Small improvements and dump a bad defensemen contract at the deadline, when a player is most likely to waive their no trade clause for a chance to win the cup.

  13. Habs/Blues Trade……NOT GOING TO HAPPEN for lots of reasons. Anderson is a decent 20-30 goal scorer and can kick the shit out of you just as easily as putting the puck in the net.
    DeSmith…..yes trade him.
Habs don't want Scandella or the lazy Kappenen. I just don't see it. I was high on Kappenen a few years back but his game has really stalled despite how well he recently played.
    I wouldnt make this trade.

  14. I like Anderson, but not at $5 million, and playing top minutes, so if they can trade him, that would be great!

  15. As a Blues fan that tends to say "In Army We Trust"… this trade would infuriate me and I'd want a new GM.
We need D help, and bad D contracts to move out. I know we'd like to move Scandella, and I'm all about that.

But we have no need for new goaltending. We want our draft picks, or at least to trade them for something we need, like getting someone to take Krugs contract.
Moving a 1st, plus Kap, for a goalie we don't need and an oft-injured 20G scorer, and ending up over a million closer to the cap? Bro I'll be pissed. Lol

I'm not shooting the messenger here but I certainly hope it's just Canadian media and their wishful thinking.

  16. Montreal has the most delusional fans if they think all their guys are worth #1 picks. The team is a tire fire with a bunch of bad contracts. At least Hughes seems cognizant of the situation

  17. Anderson isn’t worth nothing, he was on a 40 point pace in the last 2 years on two of the most injured teams in the cap era. But he is overpaid by about 1.5 to 2 mil, if they want to get something decent for him. They will have to wait for the cap to jump and the term to be shorter.

That trade doesn’t make sense for the blues because they are meant to be pretty bad this year and next year, so they are taking a huge risk for no reason. While also not addressing the defence.
