This trade still makes me crazy, Horny was always in front, he scored most of his goals within 6 feet of the crease. After Ryan Malone, the Pens had nobody willing to take the abuse of making their living in front, until Patric came along, he was worth every penny he was paid. Rutherford and Sully swung and missed on this deal, and it still makes my blood boil.
But, maybe it would save Jarry from the embarrassment of flailing about in the shootout.
Yea I mean Matheson skates really well but is he really worth 5mil a year? For what like the next 5 years. I would’ve rather kept Horny instead of turnover inconsistent fast defenseman. Another thing Boyle doesn’t bring speed either but he seems to play ok. Idk I still miss Horny and after watching this 1st period we miss that guy. I don’t hate Matheson I’m sure he’s a great guy but he just isn’t great defensively he always seems like he’s gunna turn the puck over. Idk after having Rutherford being over aggressive you’d think we would want a more passive GM but sheesh seems like Hextall won’t make any moves. Lol idk
