MVP of our first playoff season as a rookie, winning the calder. Columbus LOVED him that year, akin to Bob during his Vezina years. Would never live up to his rookie year, but managed to rebound a bit in Philly.

That entire 08 09 year. Like, pick a shutout and he was incredible. Fuck Arniel for breaking his confidence so hard tbh.
Bonus because it’s not my favorite memory for obvious reasons but it’s definitely the most bizarre: the time he played so well a Flames fan [threatened to kill him and blow up the arena over beating them](https://www.dispatch.com/story/sports/nhl/columbus-blue-jackets/2009/03/28/threats-were-left-as-messages/23396512007/). Was at that game, came up to the main concourse after, and my dad and I were very alarmed because I’ve never seen more cops in one place in my entire life than there were in NWA when that game ended.

I liked Mason a lot when he was here. But my favorite memory of him is still that puck slowly passing him from center ice when he was in Philly.
It’s too damn funny. He’s in front of it, and moves his legs and stick out of the way. He could be on fire and then just make simple mental errors.
