  1. Canucks need to stay healthy if they wanna make the playoffs not having demko def hurt them

  2. I really think the Canucks got better. None of the players they lost will be really missed and the players they picked up filled holes they really needed to fill. They got two players who have the potential to be a 3rd line centre both can play PK. They also picked up two defencemen who can all play PK. If they play as well as they did last year, but with league average PK, then they should be in the playoffs.

  3. As a Colorado Rockies fan(baseball) and of course an Avalanche fan, but as a Rockies fan i must say, i have a real soft spot for Vancouver, THG you are a noble fan, i will think of you Shannon when Vancouver hoists the Cup…
    Soon, Fuc…. soon

  4. As much as I want to see all three Hughes brothers on my Devils, I’d rather see the Canucks in a position to succeed. I have a soft spot for them.

  5. Van is in deep trouble. Horrible bottom 6, poor defense, hit or miss goaltending and right tight to the cap… good luck Vancouver fans

  6. Shannon just pointed out that the Pacific may have 2 of the weakest teams, but the other 6 teams are or could be pretty damn good. I wish Vancouver wasn't going East so early, but I suspect they requested that trip so they wouldn't have a momentum killer later in the year. Of course, that is pure speculation.

  7. I'm with you where I thought Vancouver would at least be in the hunt for a playoff spot, but all year, it felt like they never quite knew what they were doing. I'm not sure how long Hughes is willing to stay around considering how highly he's ranked among defenseman.

  8. The Big Question: Does Pettersson pull a Tkachuk if the Canucks don’t impress this year?

  9. I'm not optimistic either in a decently competitive west. If this team looks rough this season that OEL buyout will only look more and more painful.

  10. A lot of "ifs" need to align for Canucks to make playoffs:
    · If Demko's healthy
    · If Elias Pettersson continues last season's pace
    · If Pettersson signs quickly to reduce drama
    · If Boeser quickly finds scoring touch (to reduce drama)
    · If Canucks finally have a good start to the season
    · If all new Canucks' acquisitions actually click
    · If Pius Suter expectations don't become another Jason Dickerson/3rd line center signing
    · If Canucks improve horrendous PK
    · If team finally finds success on those difficult east road trips
    · If Canucks generate more & longer winning streaks
    · If Canucks reduce long slumps & inconsistent play

So far, Tocchet uses empty buzz words like "structure" and "systems".
Every coach & team has these underlying items— but every team also needs the ability to adjust, attack & have flexibility.
In today's NHL, all teams or players constantly watch video — sometimes set "structures" or "systems" can be detrimental.
Teams with predictable, rigid, or consistent structures can become too easy to defend, anticipate, or exploit.
I'm hoping Tocchet doesn't start sounding too much like a broken record & players start tuning him out.
It seemed to happen with Travis Green and Canucks … Especially during long slumps & losing streaks.

I'm cheering for the Canucks but I don't believe they'll make the playoffs this year.
They need to grow in their roles and learn to win together.
    That takes time.
At best — the playoffs might be another year away.
But, I would LOVE to be proven wrong.
    Go Canucks Go

  11. I hope they get off to a good start. If not it could be time to rebuild the rebuild, because I don’t think Petey is sticking around for that.

  12. Willander is I think one of the best picks this franchise has made, and could be a future captain.

  13. Denko only played 32 games is unacceptable, he need to win at least 40-45 games if we want to make playoff 😅😊

  14. Missed the playoffs again Vegas Seattle are strong top 2 kings oilers battle final spot strong start October November or falls off January February

  15. Homegrown guys win cups. People forget about that too easily and want to trade players who had unlucky seasons or not enough time to shine

  16. If they fix the penalty kill this is a whole different team. The penalty kill was SO bad that one fix might make them a playoff team.

  17. 20 years of GM mode has me convinced that I could probably do a better job with Vancouver than any other management group they’ve had.
