  1. I agree with you. This trade helps both teams. Blues get some depth on the wing while the leafs get some room on their roster to add someone for the playoffs and a pick down the road. That KHL clause is interesting as well. Ultimately the Leafs could have lost him for nothing but they got a 4th for him. And you never know what that 4th will turn into!

  2. I was surprised we got a 4th, I thought we were going to only get a 6th rd pick because we had no leverage and everyone knew we were going to trade him so lou did well!

  3. I think the Leafs win this trade. We get a 4th for a guy who hasn't proved himself fully in the Nhl level. Now he might end up being the next Alex Steen, which I would like, but if he dosnt then at least we get something for him and he dosnt leave for the Khl

  4. The deal didn't surprise me that much. The Leafs have had the strength of depth on the wings throughout the lineup for a couple of years. The reality was that they were not going to be able to keep everyone given how well Dermott and Kapanen have been playing. He would have been waiver claimed so at least they added to their draft pick pool with this move.

  5. A fourth for someone who was essentially 4th Line depth and had injury problems is still pretty decent. We were SO handcuffed by being at 50 contracts. We had ZERO leverage. If the Leafs want to be buyers, they HAD to move somebody and losing Sosh and Leivo will probably bite but being able to potentially nab a decent right handed defenceman with the room they freed up contract wise will definitely feel a bit better.

  6. I wish Sosh the best. He seemed like a good kid. I loved his first goal, the loudest ring off a post you'll ever hear and his "WOOOOOOO" celey is the only thing you hear in the washington capitals arena silent arena LOL. He had a heavy shot, very physical player, but the reality is that his injuries made him lose ground on the depth chart. He's not going to takeover Kapanen or Dermott, and Sosh had some sort of contract deal that could allow him to just leave the Leafs and go to Russia….so the leafs would have lost him for nothing if they waived him or he went to Russia. Getting the 4th was a bonus. I hope to see Sosh play well in STL…it wouldn't bother me at all if he turned out to be a 20+ goal scorer on that team. I'd be happy for him just like I was happy for Kessel going to Pens and winning 2 cups.

  7. i hope it's to free up space to make a bigger trade but it won't be anything major (like a doughty). maybe we'll do something similar to the boyle deal last year.
