So witht the extension and his remaining year we basically have him at 5 year for an average of 12.9 million.
With the cap going up this is a really solid deal for both Auston and the Leafs
Assuming an $87.5M salary cap in 2024-25, Matthews’ deal comes in at around 15% of the cap. That is pretty reasonable,. It’s not really a team-friendly deal though, given the 4-year term. It’s “fair”
The question is, how much would Marner want now? “my son deserves at least as much as Matt” inbound.
