I was about to post a summary from the 32T pod segment on Petey and he basically said a lot of the same things he mentions here, just a bit more in depth. But that’s the sense he got, that Petey is not closing the door on the Canucks he just wants results
I don’t think anybody thinks he’s “done” with Vancouver from his comments… but in reality we have two years left of his rights and if we can’t prove that we’re going to be a competitive team in that period then we’re gonna lose him.

– made it very clear to focus on the year and not contract talks
– wants to make sure he can win in Vancouver before committing
– Pettersson knows he will get a lot of money wherever he goes
– telling Canuck fans to not lose hope, he is not implying he wants to leave. He just wants to win
Honestly, some reasonable points made. Canuck fans want a Cup. Pettersson wants a Cup. Ownership just needs to make it happen.
Seems like this is a big season for the team in terms of keeping Petey. If we’re still having huge stretches of bad play and miss the playoffs again, I’m sure that’s going to weigh in Petey’s mind when it comes to signing a new deal.
I don’t think he’ll leave, but if he’s giving it his all and the team still isn’t winning it’s gonna be hard for Blueberry Boy to retain him. Friedman says on 32 Thoughts that Petey liked the way last season ended and believes in what Tocchet was selling, so maybe that’ll help?
