    Career Journey-Retrospective:

    Bouchard a Pedigree-Pick #-10 Overall in the 2018 Draft, already had Leverage being a Higher-Pick to assuming he Thrives, has had a short but Successful Career. Although now only 184 Career Games, he's put up 23 Goals, 66 Assists, and 89 Points.

    He had 12 Goals, 31 Assists, and 43 Points last season as well as 9 Points in 16 Playoff Games. Following that up with this year, 8 Goals, 32 Assists, and 40 Points, along with a Break-Out 17 Points in 12 Playoff Post-Season Games.

    Now although Evan has had a shorter sample-size, he has only missed one Regular Season game his last two Seasons, amassing back-to-back 40-Point-Seasons.

    Signing Finalized:

    Well, the Edmonton Oilers have Finally got the Evan Bouchard Deal done. In something that has Dragged-On much longer than Anyone Anticipated. This in-which we saw even GM Ken Holland himself say at the Early-August Press Conference of New CEO Jeff Jackson that they were 'close' to Signing Bouchard, with some Insiders even saying it was close to being $100,00k apart.

    We speculated this amount as early at August 5th. It was indeed just a waiting-process for the obvious suspected news to break, as it Finally did on this day.

    Now we Speculated Originally, $3,000,000, on the lower-side, and $3,750,000 on the Fair-Middle-Side. However, 'Bouch,' as he's nicknamed, seemed to get the Higher side with this Deal. Which is more than Expected-Wanted, but Fair. Now he has to go out and earn it, just like Ryan McLeod.

    What the Oilers are getting:

    The Edmonton Oilers are getting a #-1 Bonafide Dynamite Power-Play Quarterback who has the ability to Score Double-Digit Goal upwards of 10+ a season to a Lucky Bakers-Dozen 13, along with north of 50+ Points on a Conservative Low-Mark. This all with his Patented #-BouchBomb and Silky-Smooth Skating and Playmaking Ability.

    There were some reservations when Fan and Locker-Room Favorite Tyson Barrie was Traded but it was time for 'Bouch' to step out of the shadow and into the spotlight. He showed as many knew he could handle as the Team #-1 PP-QB.

    Now he surely still has his warts Defensively but the Big-Time Addition of Mattias Ekholm helped Stabilize him, so-much-so, that he's now apart of the then-Revitalized now Solidified Top-Pair for the Oilers. A Full Season of Ekholm will only help along that cause for Evan.

    The Interesting case will be what will he want and be getting on a Long(er)-Term Deal in the Future. We're likely looking at a ' 5 x 5 ' – type deal for a brimming young player with almost seemingly Unlimited Offensive Potential.

    -OAD Oilers After Dark 2023-2024 Player Projection:

    2021-2022 Season: 12-Goals, 31-Asists, 43-Points, 81 Games

    Playoffs: 9 Points, 16 Games

    2022-2023 Season: 8-Goals, 32-Assists, 40-Points, 82 Games

    Playoffs: 4 Goals, 13 Assists, 17 points, 12 Games

    2023-2024 Projection:

    10 Goals, 50 Assists, 60 Points

    Now this is maybe a taking-the-under for Bouchard for many that many said upwards of 70+ points to Many PPG / Point-Per-Game 82+ Points. Evan has all the Ability and Potential to do such things, especially on the NHL's Best All-Time Power-Play. Likely a conversative approach on a Potential and Likely Major Break-Out Season for 'Bouch.'

    What Evan Bouchard needs to prove:

    Well, firstly, Evan Bouchard needs to prove he can play Defence. It will always be a Battle for him in his said-to-be 'Lackadaisical' style of non-cholant almost looking like he doesn't care or isn't trying. He is just that Smooth of a Skater it comes Easy to him.

    But an extra-added attention-to-detail would go a longer way in proving he can be a better more well-rounded Two-Way Defenceman. In hoping a Full Season of Stalwart Partner Mattias Ekholm can help mold Bouchard into less of a Liability Defensively.

    This along with continuing to produce not just on the Power-Play but on Even-Strength 5-on-5 as many Oilers need to do.

    A Higher Pay-Raise means a Higher Expectation of Play.

    Conclusions on the Deal:

    –

    Well, the deal has Finally Officially been made Official. Evan Bouchard is an Edmonton Oiler for at least two-more-years. For what comes after what we do not know. But as we mentioned it likely starting with at least a $5 in Money, and in Term as well most likely that matching 5-number.

    We could speculate all day on just how much Cap-Space this left the Oilers, and going back to the Ryan McLeod Signing where he was Speculated to have taken less, when on the surface it didn't look that way. This may result in the Oilers not being able to Comfortably Dress a 21-23-Man-Roster with 13-14 Forwards, or 7-8 Defenceman.

    Whatever the ideal formation may've been. In being this tight to the cap, having to finagle with what they can up-and-down with Transactional Moves in filling-up a Roster.

    This Squeeze also Results if a Veteran like a Suspected-Rumored Brandon Sutter or Sam Gagner don't make-good on their PTO – Professional Try-Out Contracts, it pushes Lane Pederson up from #-5 Center, the #-1 Center in the AHL, to the 4th-Line-Center in the NHL.

    Good for him, but not as Great for the Oilers, in someone they wanted more in a Depth Role, meaning it also effects the AHL in someone having to move up, as well as this move all the way down to the ECHL – East Coast Hockey League.

    So, seeing a player take even an extra Hundred-Grand over in Negotiations has a cataclysmic effect on the Oilers Organization and their Own Team and Farm Team's Systems. This is the reality of a Cap-Crunch League and the Oilers still being in that dreaded-statement, 'money-in, money-out.'

    In any regard, this may be all Trivial, as the Deals are done, and now it's time to go out on the Ice, and Play!
