It’s been an interesting comment section and appreciate most people keeping things civil in here. I wanted to expand on a few things.

So we are going to ignore Buffalo 2021, NJD 2019, Buffalo 2018, NJD 2017, EDM 2015, 2014 FLA, 2013 COL, EDM 2010-2012?
There has been a lot of years an original 6 team hasn’t gotten a number 1 pick. 16 picks out of the last 20 have been non-original 6 teams.

I can understand that sentiment but the NHL is looking to expand the game. They have been trying to make things work in Markets that aren’t traditional hockey markets. The Blackhawks would sell tickets whether they got Bedard or Fantilli. They still had decent with attendance this year considering they had one of the worst teams in the league.

Yeah it does make sense if they are trying to grow the game. Also Tempe’s city council approved the building of an arena, the Yotes won’t be at Mullet arena forever. Is it embarrassing? Yes but not a permanent solution. Bedard wouldn’t be with Coyotes for one season, they would build around him. I’m not even a Coyotes fan but could see the logic of them sending him to Anaheim, Arizona, or Columbus to boost other markets ticket sales before making this quagmire they have current with Chicago having the number 1 pick.

If it's not rigged, where are the number combination so we can see for ourselves? Why don't they put teams logo on the balls like before? Or make the "random numbers combination" public before the lottery. As every ball is taked out we could eliminate some possibility. There is a HUUUUUUUGE lack in transparency…

The argument would be that Chicago will make them more money then any of those other teams. I am not saying it rigged but its certainly a weird circumstance.
Why move away from the 2020 lottery balls, when the New York Rangers won the lottery? Chicago is too big of a market to not have a marquee player. Arizona and Columbus will never be big enough markets to be able to hold a star like Bedard. He'll end up on another team when they dont pay him. Chicago should have never had that pick anyways.

Hawks Fan here… The Beach situation was handled completely terrible..and Hawks fans are pissed about it as well. People who act like we don’t care are full of it. now to these haters complaining the hawks should not have picks … The people in charge when this happened were terminated – or are out of the NHL. The players are gone / The staff is gone.. only the chairman is the same… Everyone else is out. as they should be. Punishing the hawks would have been okay with me..truly I would have agreed with that. but even so that effects the fans and one guy who was there.. not people who were involved at this point as they are already out. So its too late. the NHL should have take those steps then and there. Complaining about it now is just useless. So move on.

You didnt even mention how hard and how OPENLY chicago tanked for this. They literally shipped off pieces no one in the right mind would get rid of like debrincat for draft picks. You just don't do that unless you're tanking. Debrincat is a bird in the hand they traded for a lesser bird in the bush. People are mad about that too.

The crime was uncovered, those responsible shamed and banished, the victim was handsomely compensated. Should've been docked last year's first but wasn't for whatever reason. To go on hating the Blackhawk franchise is simply hating on the fanbase and totally innocent people.

It's very odd that teams 16-4 did not move from their original positions. What are the odds of drawing the draft order identical to the standings for teams 4-16.
To me it is rigged, the NHL only cares about making MONEY, it just showed in 1 hour and 30 minutes after the lottery the Blackhawks sold $2.5 million worth of season ticket plans in just that time. We all know what Bedard’s potential and their only going to make more money. Bottom line they don’t care if they have a bad look at the Kyle Beach situation they just care about money, anything else doesn’t matter.
The league knew that Toews was leaving, and that Chicago needs a successor.

Look, as a criminal law paralegal – the ONLY ONE that was in a position to do absolutely anything in the Kyle Beach situation was Kyle Beach HIMSELF.. The Blackhawks management were in absolutely ZERO position to do anything BUT fire Brad Alderech – which they essentially did by not renewing his contract at the end of the 2010 season. Keep in mind Hawks management were allegedly made aware of this in May of 2010 when Brad Alderech was only signed though the 2010 season – meaning he only had 3 weeks left on his contract, which isn't even enough time to launch and internal investigation into the matter….. But lets just say Bowman DID INDEED fire Brad Alderich the moment those allegations were made — well congratulations — the same people condemning the Hawks at this very moment out of pure ignorance of law would NOW be calling the Blackhawks a "homophobic franchise" – because Alderich would have turned around and SUED the Hawks for discrimination based on his sexuality and there is ZERO DOUBT in my mind every single one of you clowns that tossed the Hawks under the bus because of Beach would have bought that story hook, line and sinker while portraying Aldrech as a "victim".. And in that situation where would have that left Kyle Beach?? right, in the middle of all of it…

do i think the draft was rigged… no. but it is no longer live and done behind closed doors, I don't even know if any major consulting firms are in attendance to confirm the validity of the draft… but the interesting thing now is that it isn't just fans and their theories Elliotte Friedman is reporting that he is hearing major complaints from NHL team executives about the draft being rigged.

Oh come on, you naive North American sports fans. It WAS rigged. And there's no rule against it because it was NHL's own draft. PRO SPORTS IS A BUSINESS. Think about it, you Ameri-mutts and Canuck-commies. Chicago had a HORRIFIC scandal. The "Brand" (notice how you hear this business term often in sports these days) was diminished. NHL needed to revive it and give the "brand" a new era. Chicago, despite Illinois not being a good ice hockey state at the non professional level compared to other US cold weather/northern states, is still US's 3rd largest media market. NHL had to help their franchise there. It's all business.
If NHL desperately wants to revitalize the "brand" for their Chicago market team. Then go full out a put a litteral Black Bird Hawk on the jersey instead of the Chieftain who viewed Chicago's settlers as invaders who forcibly removed his tribe to make way for the City of Chicago. Blackhawk would be disgusted that he is a mascot for a ice hockey team for the people who conquered and removed his people.
It's entirely irrelevant whether the pick was bought or not, Chicago will simply trade Bedard away in 4-5 seasons, they're only drafting him for a quick buck
