  1. A lot of "superstars" get casted aside because the media only focuses on the bigger market / canadian ones, mostly a combination of both.

  2. I deliver beer around Massachussetts and one store in North Chelmsford has all the Vegas gear and an Eichel signed stick on display. Deff some very hyped people in rural Massachusetts even with the bruins death.

  3. A star yes but superstar I don't know about that one he's good but would not class him as top 10 good I'd put him in Teri 2 Tavares Stamkos class great but feels like he's missing something

  4. Eichel wanted a trade before the neck injury. Then he trashed Sabres fans in a post game interview. That’s why he gets booed.

  5. Is he a star? No doubt, but if it weren’t for the namebrand of being drafted in the McDavid year as a number 2 option, no one would be saying this.

Superstars are people who are like top 10 players in the league, like McDavid, Draisaitl, Rantanen, MacKinnon (Who was only was only a point per game this year but was well over a point per game the last 3 post seasons.) it’s a very small group of people and he’s just not in that group.

  6. Only the media made that much out of Murray's post lottery comments. Eichel was beloved by Sabres fans, and the org gave him everything. To say he was "never really wanted" is nonsense. The whole reason we tanked was to ensure that we got a top center. When Sabres fans were rooting for their team to lose that year, it was because we wanted to be guaranteed at least Eichel, not guarantee for McDavid.

  7. Just imagine…
Tim Murray passed up a guy named Leon Draisatl the year before to select the Legendary Hockey IQ of Sam Reinhart…
Say Jack Eichel came aboard the year after to link up with Drai as a rookie. Set aside all that went on, is it unreasonable to think it may have gone differently?

  8. I think I'd take Eichel over Mathews. Eichel is a beast on the puck and can skate and pass better than Mathews. Thoughts?

  9. I would say NO… but I would say he's achieved more than the toeruntoe make believes!!! BOOK IT!!!

  10. He's just a great player. A fringe star. Not really even close to a super star. Being a point per game player doesn't make you a super star, just makes you a great top liner. You can get by with a point per game if your stats are goal-heavy, but Eichel has only hit the 30 goal mark once in his 8 years. The injury issues are also a hinderance. He misses 20 games practically every season. And I'd like more than 6 goals in 3 rounds from a superstar. Right now he's living on 1 assist games. He's an important player, thanks to his surgery situation, he hopefully opened the door for more bodily autonomy for other players, but his superstar window closed well before his surgery.

  11. Just like how Canadian media massively overrates Matthews, we underrate players on a lot of the US teams.

  12. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great player, but he’s averaged 0.9 points per game since joining Vegas. He’s had a great playoffs, but he’s been outperformed by the guy the golden knights traded for him, Alex Tuch. No where near being a superstar. On most teams, he isn’t the top player, maybe not even the 2nd best player on the team.

  13. Adam,I love how you said “that He wanted to have control over on how his neck was operated on”. You couldn’t have been more spot on! Sabres fans hate the fact he chose what he chose to do with his own body and mad he left. They won’t admit it though.

  14. And just finished this video, also like how you said “how is a guy supposed to feel good when your new GM is like, you’re a disappointment”. Adam, you e gained some new found respect from me! You’re unbiased. Love the podcast by the way. Steve, I’ve been a fan for years, watch all your YouTube vids… from a knights fan in Vegas, Never knew about hockey but wow I’m glad the knights came. I’m not only a HUGE knights fan but also they made me a HUGE hockey fan now. Best sport in my mind.

  15. The fact that anyone holds the choices Eichel made against him just shows that people don't view players as autonomous humans, but chess pieces. Jack is the one who has to live in that body once his career is done.

Plenty of people still LOVE the VGK and Eichel. 😉

  16. Eichel is better than McDavid and Matthews. Why? Because he shows up when you need him too. When it matters.
