  1. a lot can change in three years–organizationally, team wise (Draisaitl contract), and personally. he's being practical as he should. that being said, legacy is reportedly important to him, and if he can end up with one continuously good team like Sid in Pittsburgh, I think he'd prefer that

  2. He wants to win the cup, and he wants management to up their lineup. Don't blame him.

  3. McDavid doesn't deserve Edmonton. I would be happy for him if he left to try and get a cup. There is less then no chance he wins a cup in Canada

  4. I'm a Oilers fan. Give me over 100m, and I wouldn't choose Edmonton to live in lol.

  5. Jonny, fan. Please stop using "freaking out," in your headlines. Please.

People would, "freak out," if he died in an unexpected plane crash.

I think your content is good enough that you don't have to do that.

  6. If the Oilers swing between semi-final and finals (and keep games competitive), whether he wins or loses. I can see him still staying. But if it's anything less he's too competitive to stay. Leon is also a big factor too.

  7. It is absolutely a nothingburger. If Connor had said that he was 100% committed to staying in Edmonton for his entire career, that would have meant absolutely nothing either, and been an equal nothingburger story. There is nothing that an athlete can say about something 3 years down the road that has any meaningfulness to the present.

  8. Idk what I’m doing this weekend lol ofc he doesn’t know what it’s gonna be like in three years🤦🏽 some people need to chill out😂

  9. The dude is almost 27! Do fhey expect him to waste his career by re-signing if he still doesn't have a cup?

  10. I could care less.
I love watching Mcdavid as an Oiler but he’s AN Oiler. He’s not THE Oilers. Players come, players leave. If in 3 years moving Mcdavid for a boatload of
picks and prospects and players is best for the team, I’ll help him pack his bags.

  11. This is a smart decision by Mcdavid. I don't think it would be smart to say he's 100% going to stay in Edmonton for the rest of his career. Because if something happens with contract negotiations after he said he would stay, the shit storm would be unreal. He's telling it like it is. Sounds like he wants to stay and wants to win in Edmonton, but he's not making promises

  12. McJesus was picked in 2015. He'll be 27 at the end of this upcoming season. He should have at least 1 Cup by now and still be contending for more…

  13. Lol what do you expect him to say? I still think hes staying. But I wouldnt blame him if he left either, clearly bettman has an agenda against canadian team so it will be hard to win in edmonton but not impossible hopefully 🙏

  14. People are fucking Insane to expect a KID to have his mind made up about his entire career and lock himself down. That’s what’s really insane. Fans need to fuck off with entitlement over players.

  15. McD is just living in the moment if the oilers are still contending by the end of his contract im sure he will heavily consider coming back.

  16. Is it that time of yr again? Micheal Jorden had to answer this question every training camp. Personally if he brings a cup to Edmonton I'd be happy with that. The guy gonna do what the guy gonna do no use stressing it.

  17. If McDavid and Draisatl cant win a Cup this season, they should trade Draisaitl for a #1 defenseman and a replacement top 6 center, and some draft capital.

Then go for the Cup in the last 2 years before McDavid leaves.

    Its Cup or bust.

  18. I'm surprised it took this long for all the McDavid is leaving talk to start once Mathews signed his deal.

  19. That Matthews sign got ppl worried about mcdavid contract lol I myself oilers fan too he still got 3 years we all know Matthews was about to leave next season till he signs huge one

  20. That comment is equivalent to the proverbial "having a Gun aimed @ your Head" for Edmonton! Connor's saying that I've been doing my job here… so now everybody's gotta chip in as best as they can… or else I might be thinkin of my options here! I'm just not sure Holland still got it in Him to deliver that Cup!! I'd personally be on the phones to land Hellenbuck… or an insurance policy in case Skinner gets taken to lunch! I'm not even mentioning Campbell… since I've seen to many top shelf stick side goals go in to have confidence in Him moving forward!!

  21. As an Oilers fan it makes sense. It's a business. If the team is still a contender etc he's staying same as Drai which goes back to McD staying

  22. if oilers win a cup or make it to finals . he will prob stay…. but if not might leave

  23. I love the Oilers coverage.
Who would want to be tied down and assumed to stay in one spot? He’s saying the truth that anybody would say. Edmonton fans just have to appreciate every game with McDavid in their town and that’s it

  24. The media is blowing this way out of proportion. I think it’s just a really honest answer. Sounds like he wants to stay with Edmonton, but if the team in 3 years isn’t looking like it’s gonna compete he’ll likely leave which makes sense.

As an Oilers fan I appreciate the honesty. The franchise could look entirely different in 3 years. Connors family could look different. It’s a long time a way and I appreciate him just being honest about it. Honestly as of today not worried at all

  25. It's been public knowledge Connor and Leon do not want to separate if they can help it, it's impossible for a different team to afford signing both they would have to sign for one at FA and trade for the other and their value is just too steep for a team to pull the trigger on either situation. Only Edmonton can resign both, players know that so it makes Edmonton attractive for lower pay to play with these guys. I mean Connor told Connor Brown to sign with Edmonton, he got his old agent to become top guy which he got Sam Gagner to sign a pto. not big names but it shows Connor is going the extra mile to make a home he is comfortable with. That's not a sign of someone looking at other teams to sign to.

  26. I’ll still root for him if he leaves no hate from me. I can respect a player’s decision. It’ll be hard but you can’t be selfish. Plus the return you could get for McDavid could totally fix all issues on the oilers so it’s not a total loss if he dose leave

  27. I pray he isn’t greedy like Matthews and puts the team first. He’s made more than enough money. Could easily sign for 10m aav and live comfortable the rest of his life.

  28. At the end of the day. Who gives a fuck. If he stays, enjoy every game. If he goes, enjoy whatever games you have left. You had the great one on your team. You had Messier. Now you have CD. Just enjoy it.

  29. Could be a message to management to put the remaining pieces in place. Strengthen the weaknesses.

  30. Considering Matthews just got paid over $13m… I hope Edmonton is willing and able to spend $15m+ for both McDavid and Draisaitl if they intend on keeping them.
Sometimes wants and desires are irrelevant when dealing with a salary cap.

  31. They win the cup in the next two years or he gone.

And Draisaitl doesn’t sign unless they win a cup. If they the miss next year he holds out on signing until the end of the season. No cup he goes FA and the oil lose him for nothing in return.
