Bergevin also nixed a trade for Nugent-Hopkins.
Recall EDM GM was Kevin Lowe from Lachute Que he made a few bad trades?
Wideman's years in the KHL made him appreciate all aspects of playing in the NHL.
Maybe the Reporters should have grilled Burrows about the disastrous PP since he arrived.
Coach, your analysis of the next years performance is spot on!
Same team as last year, while division rivals have substantially improved but FLA have some of their stars returning from injury.
The ST particularly the PP is bad!
We both agree that goaltending is not a strength of this team!
Hi Coach, sorry that I missed this show. In my opinion, Farrell and Hutson are Tier One, super elite vision, processing and playmaking. Both players are small body size today yet both have succeeded, and even dominated, at each level. We also are fortunate enough to have two elite prospect D-men that could be Tier One with their vision, processing and playmaking. Engstrom and Reinbacher. Cheers
The starting seven D-men will probably come from this grouping of 9 players. . David Savard 735 games, Mike Matheson 465, Chris Wideman 291, Gustav Lindstrom 128, Jonathan Kovacevic 77 games, Jordan Harris 75, Arber Xhekaj 51, Justin Barron 46, Kaiden Guhle 44 games. . . In addition Nicolas Beaudin, Brady Keeper, Logan Mailloux, Jayden Struble, William Trudeau, will be be trying to be noticed along with Hutson and Reinbacher.. Management may chose the seven d-men based on showcasing for trades..
Guess who else is better …pretty much every single team near the Habs in the standings so they could easily not improve in the standings.I can't wait until Bedard comes in and lights it up to discredit although habs excuse makers saying a player is too young.
Sid Crosby came in as a rookie on a very bad Pitts team and doubled the next closest scorer as a ROOKIE.He set the NHL: record of 102 pts but he could have easily just got 60 and everyone would be making excuses for him.
The real reason players often are slow to get going is that they are not slow at all they are just not gifted first line status with the other top established players AND powerplay time to rack up the numbers.
Even that Seattle Beniers came in as a 19 yr old rookie late season and potted 9 pts in 10 games and he is not considered an elite player.
NHL Stats The Canadiens were GF with 227 and GA with 305; that is a minus-78 differential with massive injuries. Can we score 270 GF, an increase of 43 goals, and decrease their GA by 15 to 290. If you think 43 goals would be a lot, remember Caufield himself was on pace for 48, which was 22 more than the 26 he finished the season with. Now, we add in HP sauce, Newhook, healthy Monahan, stronger Dach and sharpshooter Ylonen. Voila..
Let us check on those Rookie D-men, question is, 'Have they and will they improve'? . a resounding yes, yes for me. Why do I feel that way. They have the character, desire and talent to make an impact. For example, the Canadiens could raise their GF to 3.3 and the GA down to 3.3. . Possible? . So what's the problem in this team making the playoffs? .. Attitude-Determination-Effort-Focus-Health-Teamwork. . GO HABS GO

When will Bettman speak about Mailloux decision? Maybe around the Training Camps when hockey media news volume is heavy with so many other subjects surrounding all 32 NHL teams plus their farm teams. Unfortunately, a news release about the proposed resolution on the 2018 Hockey Canada's Junior Team's ugly sexual assault incident could happen at same time or within days of each other. .
Hi Coach, Excellent overview and capture of Montreal's direct competition changes for this year. Your work, effort, is amazing and heart warming for a fan like me. Thank you so much. On paper it looks like our Canadiens will finish bottom 5… but my faith in our talent and if coach St. Louis runs the four lines like Rod Brind'Amour then our Top Nine will play 15-17 minutes every game and surprise everyone.. in Kerry's bias opinion. lol, Cheers

The seven notable players gone from Montreal this offseason include: Jonathan Drouin, Joel Edmundson, Denis Gurianov, Mike Hoffman, Jeff Petry (again), Rem Pitlick, and Corey Schueneman. . The 7 notable UFA players gone from Laval: Frederic Allard, Alex Belzile, Madison Bowery, Otto Leskinen, Anthony Richard, Tony Sund, Chris Tierney
Montreal didn’t wanted matthew tkachuk. They also picked kotkaniemi over Brady tkachuk.
Kerry (Carey) says 88 points is a goal for Montreal. Are we to inexperienced? Do we have the talent or not?.. I think we can finish 22nd if coach St. Louis rolls out the Top Nine with equal TOI.. Cheers
