Just imagine if the Flyers had Makar now. Would they have ever traded to get Ristolainen and Ellis? Would they actually be consistent playoff performers? Interesting to think about.
pain
Why have scouts if u don't listen to them to me gm power hungry
Shane Wright sounds like Nolan Patrick same deal no? NOt having a great year in draft year, very similar.
Please make a Cale Makar Video next!
Man watching this guy in Brandon i knew he wasn't worth going 1 or even 2, maybe he should've been a second round pick. Now this comes out, gotta say i sure damn the flyers let's go flyers…
Pettersson might be the flashier more offensively talented player but I’d argue Hischier is the more complete player and as a Devs fan I’m more than happy with Nico as our Captain. (Makar would be the name that has some regret out of this draft not Pettersson but hoping Luke Hughes can fill that role)
As a Blues fan I have thank Ron for Schenn and not trading for ROR
These analysts are dumb especially bob mckenzie , i doubt he can even tie his own skates. Savoie is the prize forward in this years draft , cooley is solid to
What i cant believe is that philly was able to turn patrick into ryan ellis
Keep yalls grubby hands off Makar. 🙂
Flyers missed on Heiskanen too, garbage management all the way.
GOD BLESS YOU, RON!
I remember back when hextall was amassing all of those picks. Every analyst ranked the flyers prospect pool top 3 in the league. They had a number of whiffs…German rubstov, trading schenn for 2 first rounders (great in theory, but when you can't draft worth a damn, it's pointless), including Morgan Frost. The Nolan Patrick thing hits harder than everything else because they could've had a number of game breakers. As a result, they're at least 3 years in the negative as far as a rebuild goes. Not to mention the even bigger problem of having owners who don't give a damn about the history of the team or jockey in general (Comcast). The flyers franchise as we know it died with Ed Snider.
On the bright side we were able to get Ellis for Patrick which is a steal but still poor management on our part. Very Sad
The quote talking about how it’s be weird to see Patrick fall to 4th, Seth Jones fell like that in 2013. It has happened
Oof
Hindsight is always 20/20
Hextall works for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Pens are kryptonite for the Flyers. No wonder Clarke is lashing out.
Dang Lego. Love this post. I hate the Flyers and hated Goalie Hextall. Now I love Hex for doing this to the Flyers. I love posts that talk about NHL teams that missed out on a draft or trade they should have made.
Makar=Generational talent. There is nobody like him today. He is in his own category. The speed, skill, edge work, acceleration are unmatched. People have tried comparing Makar with Heiskenan, Hughes and now Adam Fox who are all very good players in their own right. But none have the game changing impact like Makar. He's the first one I have ever seen do a crossover move on the ice similar to Allen Iverson on the hardcourt.
I do find it interesting that Clarke is throwing Hextall under the bus now. If the Flyers did draft Makar, would they have waited 2 years for him?
He had decided to stay with UMASS for 2 years for development. I have seen teams waste draft prospects to rush those players to the NHL.
10 scout in the room say: ”Take this Makar kid he is amazing” And Hextall just say that they take Patrick..I think the case was not that black and white. Clarke just want blame someone because their team is poor
Did you watch Steve Dangle's take on this? It's hilarious.
Cale Makar is only 2 career points below his career GP. He has the most GWGs and Gs among defensemen since his draft year.
When Clarke was GM at the draft… he couldn't even remember Caude Giroux's name… Ex players, great or not, good work ethic or not, don't always make good execs
