Old time hockey! The league is charmin soft. I remember a game back in the day when Gino Odjick tried to fight the entire blues team. While I love to see buttery smooth hockey being played, the league still needs that toughness, scrums, face washes, and fights that have come to define North American hockey.
Hockey doesn't need any will Smiths that'll slap people around for doing funny dangles…..
The thing I love most about this clip, Steve still somehow managed to reference working at the zoo
Terry deserved it. You can’t think of jumping in and not expect to eat a punch or two. Skilled or not you have to face piper if you want the rough stuff
He grabbed him, why grab the guy
Segment actually starts at 1:06
how many of u guys played professional hockey
Why does nobody ever bring up Kassian rag dolling Tkachuk and getting 2 games, Tkachuk didnt even have an injury from it.
Beagle should have got 1 game at least, you cant just beat the wheels off a guy who doesn't want to fight
Why can't people understand Beagle's cross check was NOT about an earlier goal??? Zegras made the cardinal sin of poking the goalie trying to get the puck loose while his team already was in complete control late in the game at 5-0. Beagle, who has played 26 games this year and has a total of 27 PIM (including the 17 PIM given him in the game). Beagle took offense and gave Zegras the business by cross checking him to tell him "Don't do that to our goalie". That Terry skates over to Beagle in the middle of a scrum, WHICH is pretty patently stupid as Terry obviously did not anticipate that in NHL scrums, people can fight if they are pi**ed off!!
Terry got punched a couple times and when he went down, Beagle was up pretty quickly and was still looking for trouble. ONLY then did Cam Fowler show interest in engaging Beagle. Now Beagle is a twelfth-year player whose complete season high in PIM's in TWELVE years is THIRTY EIGHT!!! Does that sound like a goon?? Thats why your McEwen/Simmonds example is all WRONG!! All of you are veering off the point that Terry approached Beagle – what EVER happened to "situational awareness" in the NHL. NOT one Duck tried to "get at" Beagle for the cross check, they all tied up with a scrum partner UNTIL Terry got pummeled. SOMEBODY on the Ducks needs to educate the "youngsters" on "The Code"… You DO NOT poke at the goaltenders (Zegras) trying to get a puck in garbage time to uselessly pad his stats at best. That would solve the "problem" here as Beagle wouldn't have cross checked Zegras IF Zegras wasn't being an ass!
BTW Adam – Please research a little better about sucking… As a "yute" I watched the early 70's Flyers who won the 1972 QF round against the Minnesota North Stars (4-2) before getting swept out of the playoffs by Montreal. The Flyers won the 1973-74 and the 1974-75 Stanley Cups. Significantly the poster boy for goonism of the 70's, Dave Schultz was the fifth leading scorer on that 1973-74 team with 20G/16A =36P (+25 +/-).
I love your guys show and think you do a very good job – but check out the Flyers 10 year record from the 1967 inaugural season 67-68 31-32-11 (lost QF playoff gm7) 68-69 20-35-21 (lost QF playoffs) 69-70 17-35-24 (no playoffs) 70-71 28-33-17 (lost QF rd) 71-72 26-38-14 (no playoffs) 72-73 37-30-11 (lost Semis) 73-74 50-16-12 (Won S.C.) 74-75 51-18-11 (won S.C.) 75-76 51-13-16 (lost SC finals) 76-77 48-16-16 (lost Semis) so out of the Flyers first 10 years, that's 8 years making the playoffs, missing two playoffs, two Lord Stanley Cups won, and you think they sucked?? Maybe I should point you out the Colorado Rockies, the Kansas City Scouts, the California Golden Seals, the St. Louis Blues as teams that REALLY sucked in the 1970's
6:45 the guy they are interviewing (I think zegras?) keeps saying he punched him while he was down, ummm sir did you even see the play or the replay? Punch, punch, punch, (terry almost falls) punch, terry goes down in a heap and buddy backs off, get your story right bud
Dangle – You missed that Troy Terry swung at Beagle (glove on) when he first came into the scrum. He didn't just hold him. He also was not hit while on the ground. Stop saying that.
Did Beagle go over the top? probably. Shouldn't have swung at him though.
It's also going around that he beat him up bc the young Ducks "are more skilled." Also wrong. They are very NBA when it comes to being almost annoying during/after their cellies. The smiling and smirking lacks a "done that before" professionalism and is gonna put a target on your back. Do we want professional ice hockey to be the NBA, where everyone is doing shoulder shimmies and dancing after every little thing? Made me stop watching that league.
So the show boating is ok cause no one in the league show boats like zegras did cause they know this stuff happens
Yes
Well zegras is a blatant liar , so is Adam , and I dont know what some of you are watching . . . Terry took a swing , beagle didnt hit him while he was down , if you wanna put your hands on someone in a heated moment expect to get hit . Swing and get swung on . Adam wonders why he gets lit up on twitter , always has the virtue signaling crap takes
How to survive a fight you don't want to be in….get in close and pull him to the ice. Nobody was hit when they were down.
Zegras sounds like Crawford and May rolled up into one, minus the verbal bounty. 🤷♂️
Will smacking Chris has brought out all the soft opinionated people.
Adam and Steve never played any sport at a competitive level and it REALLY shows. If Zegras doesnt poke at the goalie in a 5-0 game with 2 minutes left this doesnt happen if Terry doesnt grab a guy who is going to beat the wheels off of him AND SWING AT HIM FIRST this doesnt happen. Horrible take by these guys once again
I’ll say no and I hope someone repeats that beating on beagles face very soon and go after there stars as well during there scrums
"You wanna skill it up, you better be ready to get punched in the mouth" – by dumbass.
That's is one of the dumbest quoted I've ever heard. Do we really want a league where if you suck you can just break people's faces for no reason. Let's not forget beagle just leagaly assaulted Troy Terry
“…some pulp” Sopranos reference! Looool
Love it
This is also on the Ducks coach–why are these guys Terry and Zegras on the ice against the fourth line with under minutes left in a 5-0 game?
Jay Beagle has no business being in the NHL. You could take some random guy off the street and he could also luck into 150 points over 600+ games playing with actual hockey players.
The fact that there’s even a debate on this matter is so weird. If the league wants to be the only pro sport league in America to allow fights, fine, but for it to be legal, there should at least be a clear consent from both players. Without it, how is it not assault? If you are in a restaurant, even if someone insults you, pushes you and spit in your beer, you can’t punch him in the face until he drops. At least when two goons politely aksed each other the permission to fight before the faceoff in the 2000’s, it was ridiculous but respectful😅
When did he hit him when he was on the ground? What video are you guys watching?
This league is so soft! I think that dirty hits are just a part of a gentlemen’s game! Respect in the game means hitting someone from behind! When I play basketball and someone scores on me with a dunk, I punch them in the face! Everyone else is soft, but getting smirked at on the bench is going too far!
Beagle doesnt hit Troy Terry on the ground at all. The 3 punches was made up by Zegras.
