What I Learned

OK Guys, in today’s video I’m going to concentrate on the Montreal Canadiens draft video that was released a couple of days ago. There were some interesting interviews done with NHL prospects such as Jacob Fowler, David Reinbacher etc. And getting a sneak peak of what goes on behind the scenes was pretty neat.

The articles that were in the video were screenshots from Habsfanatics.com, I highly reccommend you to check out this site for further Habs News,

Let me know whatcha think of this one down in the comment section!

  1. To me it showed they got the players they really wanted.. so hopefully they turn out. I really like the goalie part with them arguing. Jacob Fowler seems very hungry to play for Montreal. Made me feel he will be out # 1 goalie in a few years

  2. What i understand from that weird questions is not only about the value, but to know if the player can be a professional, you will have Renaud Lavoie asking the player who it feels to put the puck in the net or how it feels to lose a game, being a pro is part of the job. Answering any question is part of the job. You just have to deal with it in front of 8 people judging you. All those other hockey guy wouldn't ask that kind of question, I'm pretty sure that guy was there to ask non hockey stuff, which is obviously about off ice behavior.

  3. I loved how they all emphasized popcorns offensive skills. That's the biggest thing that surprised me when I finally studied his play in depth after we drafted him. We all heard he was a stud defensively (which the videos also confirmed), but man, if you watch him in the O zone, you can see what they were talking about. Super smooth, good mobility and most of all, shows very high IQ and vision. Since it seems Michkov is off to a "controversial" start in the MHL so far this year, maybe the scouts got this right after all.

  4. If Fowler becomes a legit starter in the NHL, thank the guy in the video that gets fired up and needs to be calmed down by Gorton's massaging abilities. It was like watching a dog on a bone. Fowler was his guy and he was going hard on the sales pitch.

  5. Benchpress Honda Civic 😂….too funny.

Yeah looks like Reinbacher was a unanimous pick for the Habs, and the rumor has it that a few teams we desperately trying to pick him after the top 4….
Reinbacher pick for Mtl definitely caused a bit of a chaos on social media, but honestly, almost everyone complaining about the pick never saw him play, me inluded. The kid will be good. Was it a bit of a reach at 5 ? Maybe. But at the end of the day, a big mobile right dman is always very in demand by NHL teams. Look at Simashev (lefty) who went right after Reinbacher at 6th, ahead of guys like Leonard, Benson, Dvorsky etc…

  6. Those 'weird' questions are becoming more common in job interviews. They are asked as part of psychological assessments.

I had one many years ago, as part of a five-day job assessment for one of six positions. A week after that, I was told that I was not chosen.

I was told that despite being an introvert, my personality was too bubbly.

  7. Great video Junkie. I loved the release, it really gave a view of the due diligence the habs took.

  8. When Lapointe was drafted by Detroit he went back to St Pierre in Montreal where he's from. My friend worked at the corner store and Lapointe wanted Coors Light in cans. He used to be a lifeguard at the pool and was a dick.

  9. My question for the 3rd and subsequent rounds are if the Habs were so sure they would get their guys a those spots (Fowler, Xhekaj, and Konyushkov), does that mean that they reached in the draft? They didn’t discuss about guys to pick in those spots that would have been picked already?

  10. the one thing emphasized in the video that I hadn't really thought of before was how reinbacher never showed any fear playing against men. call it 'compete' if you will, but they seemed to really appreciate is 'never back down' mentality. It's something you can't teach and you know its going to pay dividends when he does make the jump to NA. I'm really coming around on david, but I really hope the team won't be lacking top end forward talent down the road. ALSO Cam Fowler is even sicker than i thought; really looking forward to seeing more of him too!

  11. i hate those weird questions especially when there is only one good answer… what else could he say? I wOuLd LoOk DoWn AnD lEt It Go..

  12. I would PAY SERIOUS EXTRA to see 'Ol Junks here, conduct the interviews for the team! Can you imagine?!
*Strays-off imagining what that would be like…

  13. Wish the Habs had of kept their 2 early draft picks instead of giving them to Colorado …Will follow that one ..

  14. Reinbacher, Fowler, and Xhekaj and Newwhook… It was a decent draft. Two high end picks, and a future tough guy…

  15. Being compared to a unicorn, teammate looking for him, can never find him and begin to wonder if he actually exists?

  16. Because of this video, Jacob fowler is now my new favorite prospect. I love how hungry he is.
