When a Shootout Created a Hockey Legend…

On February 15th, 2014, Team USA faced off against Team Russia in the Olympic preliminaries for men’s ice hockey. After a close game that saw 65 minutes of tied hockey… a shootout would be needed to settle the score. What no one knew… is that this shootout, would create a hockey legend.

  1. I watched this live and was literally jumping off my coffee table every time Oshie buried one in the back of the net. But you made a point at 1:28 that he was a top 6 player. Do you mean on the US roster or in the world? I'm not saying he wasn't just interested in your thoughts. Great channel keep the videos coming.

  2. I'd take 2007 Johnathan Toews' shootout over Oshie's Sochi any day, any time, and not simply because Toews led his team to gold in 2007 (and 2014)… the stakes were higher for Toews (semi-final vs. prelim) and he delivered every single time he was called upon. Oshie left Sochi empty handed.

  3. all players at 100% at their best, if i was a goalie it would be Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr that i would't want on shootout against me😬

  4. После этих буллитов в России на долго запомнили этого парня. 😅Уважение к нему за характер и мастерство. Датсук, Ковальчук и Бобровский сильные игроки, но в тот день сильнее был Оши.

  5. Its bad enough to end an hockey tournament in a shootout; the fact they can take more than one shot is moronic.

How to turn a team sport into an individual one.

  6. Good edit. His forehand move is a good, but he gets under the puck a lot. If he could control the height better that would have been deadly. It gave him more open net than the 5 hole too.

  7. Yeah NHL has it right. Should go through the entire team. But maybe it's good olympics are different so you get to see these unique duels where goalies can see multiple moves. Just makes it interesting that you can have a shootout guy in the team.

  8. Amazing to have Kane on the bench and to keep going to Oshie. Just shows how good he is at shootouts.

  9. As a Pens fan, it's hard to say, but DAMN! Oshie is so bad ass. As far as a good shoot-out, guys, Joniken was pretty solid. The best? No. But I enjoyed him.
