Will Phil Kessel put his Iron Man streak on the line for the Penguins?

Garrett Behanna joins Patrick Damp on this episode of Locked On Penguins and they talk about how Phil Kessel’s people have informed NHL teams that he’s willing to give up his Iron Man streak in order to play this season, so does that mean a Penguins reunion is in the works? They discuss if it’s worth it for both sides, then since it’s Garrett’s first time on the show, they talk about his expectations for this Penguins team this upcoming season. Are they a contender, will they make the postseason, and what are some realistic goals for this franchise at this juncture? Finally, they have a little fun imagining what Penguins players, past or present, would make good WWE Superstars.

  1. No thanks to Phil the thrill. He was a great penguin, but karlson eliminates the need. He has no defense and doesn't fit the system. He also had bad vibes with malkin and Sully, so I don't see this as a fit. I know he has offense but I'd rather roll the dice on pusti or nylander for those goals. Only one puck and so many spots to go around.

  2. To be honest I think I would pass on Phil. He’s past his prime, bringing him in would basically be for nostalgia purposes only, it wouldn’t really solve anything.

  3. I would not bring back Kessel. They don’t need a fading 36 year old. What got Kessel traded in the first place was him not playing Sullivans way, so I don’t see him suddenly buying into Sully’s way. He was obviously great for them when they won the Cup back to back, but it’s time to move on.

  4. Gimme Tomas Tatar please …..love phil well we all do but hes too old and slow now…that ship has clearly sailed …

  5. It's not likely Phil the Thrill will sign up for the Pens. Where are you going to put him? It's preposterous to put Phil on the bottom six. He's not a penalty killer.

  6. Along the Max Talbot line, for hockey player turned wrestler…Brandon Tanev. Even a tag team of Max and Turbo would be great fun.
