  1. Why are there no subtitles with this video? I speak English and it would have been nice to be able to follow along.

  2. In Muay Thai, just like the other professional striking sports, they take their time feeling out the timing and finding where their advantage is against their opponent over the course of several rounds and try to win the striking contest more than going for damage or a fast knockout in general. It's a striking contest approach to fighting. In MMA the fighters trained in grappling invariably take down fighters with long experience in striking too easily. Strikers have to have special takedown defense training and adjust their approach to the fight drastically away from pure striking sport to even be competitive in MMA. That's why real boxers, Thai fighters, championship kickboxers, etc… generally don't do well. Too set in their ways, they need to adjust too much considering their long experience in the striking approach. Some have made the transition, they have excellent coaching. Grapplers just have an easier time using their skills effectively in MMA, but even really great wrestlers run into a problem trying to get finishes and are often just controlling their opponent on the mat, making for boring fights that go to decision. Prime case is Chael Sonnen. No one could beat the guy under the rule set, but he just wasn't exciting enough to be a big draw so the UFC continuously stood him and his opponent up all the time, giving matches to his opponents. Same thing with Coby Covington. He would be champion if the UFC would let him simply wrestle. Too boring and he was going to be cut from the organization instead of getting a championship fight, so he started brawling even though he's no kind of boxer at all. It's unclear to me whether the strikers who pick up good takedown defense or the grapplers who incorporate more exciting striking techniques are the ideal to get popular to become bigger draws and thus be promoted to champion status by the UFC more. There have been some of both types.

  3. Honestly, this is probably true, but they also wouldn't stand a chance against the KHABIB BROTHERS, UNDEFEATED CHAMP NR 1 NEVER BLED

  4. I personally don’t see how this is an argument, a Tie fighter could never fit in a ring. And if it could one blast and it’s over

  5. Thai stance does invite takedowns bc you’re too heavy on the back foot. The modern MMA stance varies but just like the sport the stance is a mix of other stances. You can’t be as wide as a boxers bc you get leg kicked to shit but wide enough to sprawl

  6. bruhh first i thought he was speaking different language but after CC it was english bruhh i felt like i was watching an eminiem vid

  7. Love this. I have so much respect for people that pursue martial artist for the sake of the art and it's traditions. But 0 respect for those who pursue it as a means to make money. The McGregor's of the world…they're strong, skilled, disciplined etc…But so what? Ants are disciplined, strong (for their size) and excel at what they do. But to go beyond that and find a deeper meaning beyond the discipline and something to fight for greater than yourself, that takes something special.

  8. Halfway through this video, I felt an overwhelming urge to check if my car outside still has wheels.

  9. Ive been waiting to see a Thai come over and own it on the feet. People dont understand the level of Thai boxing in Thailand.

  10. If there were regular Thai fighters in ufc they would dominate. It’s just the groundwork where they would get got.

  11. in this day and age EVERY martial artist has to learn ground game in the UFC..
Muay thai are the most savage dudes ever, if any of them learned some shed of the other side, it would be a whole new era in the UFC

  12. He’s talking crap boxing stance doesn’t work thai stance doesn’t work so what works then for striking what’s left that’s effective because if your taking out boxing and Thai then ya may as well forget kick-boxing to 🤣

  13. the most important thing that isn't mentioned here is that most MMA rulesets, especially UFC are geared to give wrestlers and grapplers an advantage. It's the biggest elephant in the room in UFC that these wrestlers dominating the sport wouldn't be where they are if kickboxers were allowed to throw 12-6 elbows, soccer kicks, and grounded knees. it's honestly the biggest reason I barely watch it anymore and prefer more specialized combat sports that at least don't lie to themselves about how it's "pure combat"

  14. Thai fighters have insanely hard lives. Made me felt really ashamed when I was a westerner going there to train willingly for fitness reason. Most Thais don't do muay Thai for fun, Thais who do muay Thai are the ones forced to by circumstances, so they see westerners doing muay Thai as crazy irrational people. Maybe today with new generations things may have changed a little.

  15. All these take downs in UFC is just so boring. All the best fights in UFC have been stand ups.

  16. Muaythai does not incorporate wrestling or Jujitsu style of fighting. Humans enjoy fighting even using animals to do so. It is as old as time like gambling, the closest one to the Roman Gladiator is probably MMA. Some enjoy brutality but some do not. Glad we have choices.
