Andrew I think Jones will squeeze though on wavers because it's a one way deal meaning if he plays in the AHL he still getting paid as if he was in the AHL alot of teams wouldn't want that on there books. We need to make one or two trades just to fix are cap as it is. JT isn't going anywhere he's a leaf for life

Willy isn't being traded at all. Hes playing out the remaining year….,… Kane on the Leafs would be useless (he was terrible with NYR), ….theres ZERO trade involving Nylander that the Leafs win. Again guys…. Nylander ISNT being traded.
I heard this rumour involving blues today Willy for Parayko, neighbour and a 1st round pick. I would add Brodie trade to make cap work and something else

Willy IS replaceable… yes, it would be a downgrade in any trade for scoring ability on the 2nd line, but the Leafs can afford that.
Aren't the leafs restricted to a hand full of teams because of nylander's contract? Do we know what teams?
I usually agree with your takes, but the seth jones one was very off base. He was one of the bright spots of the organization, but the prior stigma surrounding him is still affecting his narrative. Sure his cap hit isnāt the best, but calling him not good is literally insane. His underlying metrics over the last 2 years have improved tremendously.

If the Leafs can't get a deal done then I think a good trade route for Nylander would be sending him to Minnesota for Ryan Hartman & Calen Addison

Nylander for Dach, Dvorak and Gulhe
No question Bill has elite offensive talent. He also transports the puck as well as Marner, or Matthews. The problem is he does not play D like M & M, rarely hits, rarely blocks shots despite the fact that he's 6' tall & 205 lbs. In the 5 games vs Florida he had 1 single hit, 0 blocks & 3 pts (-4 for the postseason). Matthews had 2 pts, 26 SOG, 19 hits ,11 blocks & was +2. Nylander is the only prime asset that is moveable, so if Tree can get a top 4 D with size & bite & a 1st or 2nd round pick for Bill, then I think you move him. Assuming it can be done prior to the season, it likely solves all the cap issues. It's said Nylander's ask is 10.5M aav, so either let him play the year out, getting zero for your asset, or wait for the trade deadline, hoping some team has injuries & is desparate for an elite RW. I like Bill. I don't like his D.
The Tavares hate is so dumb. When he took less money than he could have gotten at the time to be a leaf and a perennial 1+ point per game guy. Sure heās not fast but does everything else right. Rare guy
It is starting to look like Willie is going to be a season long distraction unless he signs, i am thinking he needs to go, most likely a sign and trade, as last years numbers do put him in the 9.5 to 10M range, and leafs seem unwilling to go that high for him.
