This just in! Hockey teams practicing is going to scare the entire NHL! 😱
I really hope Edmonton wins a cup soon. They’re my second fav team in the league it would be awesome to see
Love to see it. Nice when the leaders are driving the train. If there's a duo that can will a Stanley Cup that haven't done it yet, it's those two. Hope they remain healthy this year.
I just want to see McDavid in the cup final
Reading way too far into this. Sure, maybe less guys have shown up for skates in other places thus far, but it's not like they're not skating. I definitely don't agree that people should be scared about this or that Edmonton is going to win the cup this year. I mean, could the latter happen? Sure, but much better chance they don't. Edmonton still needs to get through Vegas if they are going anywhere and they don't defend well.
Huge Oilers fan here – we ain't winning it all without a serious look at our goaltending situation.
Why would the entire NHL be scared? There is still an entire season to go, and starting early and looking sharp does NOTHING to prevent injuries, which in most cases is the bane of teams to make it to the SC Playoffs and a Cup Win. And as for them EXPECTING TO WIN, that might have been their issue. They expected to win while Vegas WANTED TO WIN.
I'd prefer the Rangers win it all this year (not impossible, but far from a sure thing), but it's not them, then I have to go with the Oilers. McDavid deserves one sooner than later. Also all of Canada deserves a Cup sooner than later.
If you had the kind of season that McDavid did last year and didn't win the cup, you'd be pissed too. The Oilers are going to be back with a vengeance this year and everybody knows it. McDavid and Draisatl are setting the standard and everybody is going to fall in line. It's the kind of leadership that leads by example and gets everybody bought in on the quest for greatness.
They are doing all of the early skating/practicing just for another first/second round exit
they can start practicing in july, it isnt going to make their 3rd and 4th lines what is needed to win.
Edmonton's defense in front of the net should scare Jay Woodcroft… and it isn't just the net minder
It's an 82 game season and first to 16 wins in the playoffs. Edmonton having a 10 days start to their season is not a reason to be scared
the thing about the oilers is their depth. They already have more than enough fire power with their top 6 forwards but clearly not enough depth and grit and toughness with their bottom 6 forwards. If you are going to compete for a cup then you need a mix of everything not one or the other. It doesn't matter how early a team skates. Plus, goaltending is also a top priority that needs to be shaped up. Literally everything needs to be repaired except obviously their top 6 forwards
They just understand how hard it is to win it all. Gotta 🔒 in
10 days aint gonna do dick, Calm down, they're defensive group is worse than 90% of the league.
Okay, but honestly? It seems the league has supposed to have been scared for years of this team, and they fall flat on their faces. Every. Single. Time.
Now Oiler's fans, correct me if I'm wrong, but from an outside POV, I have yet to see them address any of their weak spots. Did they fix any reocurring issues this off-season?
We aint winning with a skinner tho , just shocks me that people like a skinner
VGK is still celebrating their day with the cup. LOL!
As a Canucks fan, this is just embarrassing. We don't even have a practice facility of our own.
Love to see it, especially as an Oil fan. But it’s going to be an absolute DISASTER if this team doesn’t get atleast to the cup final. This season seems like it’ll be an even bigger influence on McDavid and Draisaitl resigning.
They may get going early and be in full form from the get go on the season, but I wonder if starting "training camp" a couple weeks earlier will tire them out by the end of the season…
The jets are back too btw but we get no press
why do hockey guys like to say "real", as in "real good" when they need to use the adverb form really. It's REALLY annoying.
I’m saying it now the Oilers will NOT win the cup. They will exit at the conference finals.
Edmonton is LOCKED in, and they're primed and ready to lose in the second round again.
Edmonton has a chip on its shoulder.
Sens did the same thing last year and again this season looking at last seasons results for the Sens it doesn't matter when tour team arrives as long as a team gets in a solid training camp and preseason without injuries it's not a bad thing but it's a lot more common now for players to get to camp start of September and for the ice to be in at the arena late August for these players to start early but still good to see go Oilers
Seriously I have been an Oilers fan since the loss to the Islanders back in the 80s. So i have been trained to hate all thing Calgary, but hey man your a breath of fresh air. Lets get the cup back to Canada and lets have the Oilers do it then we'll talk Calgary getting one in fairness.
Oilers fans are always going to have doubts until it actually happens. Was it Ray Ferraro who said "you can't blame Oilers fans for expecting an anvil to fall on their heads every time they step outside". But it does feel like it's building. Would still like a right-handed Ekholm and better goaltending, but Adin Hill was a career AHLer until the playoffs last year, so it could happen.
Still a first round exit 😂
