As a life long Red Wings fan I can't stand that he's back in the league…
Here is why he did not coach:
1) He was under contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs until June 30, 2023
2) IF he coached in the NHL, his pay would decrease by that amount, and he wouldn't get paid a dime.
Forget about the fact that he is Mike Babcock. đ
Babcock seems to be one big sick psycho (sociopathic narcissist) and at his age you very rarely change. CBJ had problems attracting talented players and now it will only get worse.
The NHL pumping out puff pieces about a crusty old backwards coach couldnt be more on brand
Another black eye for the NHL, hockey is unwilling to change their culture.
Columbus underperformed last season so of course they will be better
"There was some criticism"
"A disconnect in his communication"
Just gross how they are letting this slippery psycho get away with being a garbage human being. Jeff O'Neil said everything that needs to be said about this guy.
These are professional players, they get paid handsomely to play a game. Leadership styles vary, coaching styles vary, some are jerks and other a âplayersâ coach. Just as many players who love him as hate him. Toronto had no issue signing him after the Detroit mistreatment but now itâs ânot okâ. Deal with it.
He is a pos but he is also capable. Itâs not like heâs trying to run for president we would expect more from that position. Lol not đ if you have money you can buy career media and political spin. At the end of the day, Columbus obviously wants to grow their brand and they have to take what they can get squeezing blood from a Stone. I canât imagine it working, but thatâs not to say it wonât. Either way, itâs Ohio. If youâve ever been there, enough said. Lol party central they just need to be relevant. From a marketing perspective, they are trying to share on the Michigan Ohio state. Rivalry. What better way to do sell them to grab Detroitâs most hated coach. Financially, it makes sense and worth the risk for a team thatâs biggest claim to fame is beating the lightning in the first round sweep. With another controversial coach.
