Right after the draft Holland seemed to indicate Broberg to OHL was a near certainty, unless Skelleftea indicated he'd be getting top-line minutes. Then at prospect camp, the Oilers changed their tune, saying "it's up to Broberg". I assume the conversation with Skelleftea went well.
I like this move. Let him get comfortable with one more year in his home country, then let him play all of next year in the OHL/AHL and in the third year,maybe give him 9 NHL games to give him a little taste of the NHL and then send him back to the AHL/OHL. I really want to be patient with Broberg. I don't want him to be rushed like other prospects. I think he can be a really good top 4 guy for us in the future if developed correctly.

My only pro to ohl was getting adjusted to the smaller ice surface. I think this was a good decision finally by management.

Now Broberg gets drafted by same team that fumbled Euro kids development. And he gets skittish to adhere to team advice.
I hope Oilers have not built themselves a reputation tarnished beyond repair by hockey brain trust in European hockey circles?
