As not a Flyers fan I think they should have followed the lead of the other GMs and not picked Michkov. They can't afford to have prospects that might not ever see a day in the NHL.
It just keeps getting tougher to be a Philly fan. Can anything go our way???

Not the first time a KHL team has tried to slow down a player's development to keep him around longer. Let's not forget that according to the terms of his contract, Michkov must buy out his contract himself. Considering who is behind the SKA, I'm absolutely not surprised.
Fedotov is being forced to stay by Russia. As soon as he signed that contract with the Flyers, the Russian authorities got involved and sent him to Siberia. Safe to say he's never coming over to the NHL
Nothing has happened in the Team Canada โinvestigationโ because there is no crime committed. The female is on video laughing and saying clearly that it is a CONSENSUAL act. Also, they have the text messages of her to one of the Team Canada players apologizing for all the drama and the cops. It was her momโs idea. No charges will ever come of this because there was no crime committed. Plain and simple. If everyone keeps feeding into this narrative that someone can just take back their consent and charge you with sexual assaultโฆthen prepare for it to be turned on you one day as well.

As a Buffalo Sabres fan its a BIG NO THANK YOU to Patrick Kane! Yes there is an opening on RW on the second line ( Jack Quinn out until probably feb) but that spot will be filled by a prospect. Kullich, Rousek, Savoie are the favourites to win the job but my money is on Zac Benson .
Keep all the Russians in Russia.
We're taking Michkov ASAP. The fact that the KHL refuses to honor NHL contracts means we shouldn't honor theirs. Fuck Russia ๐๐ผ
As a Sabres fan who is also born and raised in Buffalo, I have no interest in Patrick Kane being on my team. Maybe, if he existed in a parallel dimension where he was 10 years younger and played defense or maybe was a goaltender. The Sabres are absolutely stacked at forward and have NO needs there. They don't need a guy at the end of his career who just had a major hip surgery who likely wants to be paid decent money. Maybe if he wants a PTO and is willing to play for league minimum, but even then I still don't want him; already have a logjam accumulating in Rochester waiting to make the top 6 at forward.
While hyping up Michkov, people shouldn't sleep on Yurov. Guy is intelligent, relentless and very responsible
Not a worry in the world that Michkov wont make it over to the NHL. Even if it takes 3 full years hes still only 21! Its insane that people are so worried about him… Kid is the next Ovi!!!

I think that my Rangers need to win the season opener in Buffalo, in order to have a better shot at keeping Kane.
It's almost like people keep thinking the Russians are normal. But so long as NA pretends there isn't a war, you'll be disappointed with the results.
Flyers fan. Not 1 bit concerned about Michkov. Let him grow into a 21 years old. The Fedotov situation was finished after he was sent to military. Chuck Fletcher was a horrible GM. 5 years of terrible trades, contracts. Lets go Danny B!
Unless Kane is hard up for money, which I don't think he is, I still see him coming around January/February based on the standings. Just my opinion.
I doubt Fedotov has much say in coming over.
Based on what happened last year I'd say he's just happy to not be in the Ukraine or Siberia.
You have to understand that Michkov would never be healthy scratch in any other KHL team besides SKA that really has a gazillion players on their depth chart, and can have a healthy MLB-style rotation of goalies as well. He'll be scratch from time to time.
The KHL is a despicable league.

Russia is at war with the West. It is unrealistic to believe sports are exempt from this struggle.

Russian hockey players are bad business right now. Russia is at war with the west and the nhl teams that ignore that reality are paying for it. As they should.
I wouldn't take a Russian with a top 5 pick, but where did the Flyers take Michkov? Seventh or eighth? I think that's worth the risk. It also depends on the team. For example, if I was Columbus, after the Panarin episode and the earlier adventure with Filatov, I'd never take a Russian with a first round pick . You know Russians don't want to play there, so ignore them, at least with a very high pick.
Eventually the top Russian guys do end up coming over, for all the drama you have to deal with. I can't think of any really top talent with a legitimate NHL opportunity who stayed in the KHL his whole career. Sometimes you have to wait (like with Kaprizov and Sorokin), but they do end up in the NHL.
Really? You're looking at the KHL as if it's a genuine business, with businessmen making business decisions, based on business principles !?
