My concern with Marchand – Coyle – Debrusk is Coyle and Debrusk are both net front players I don’t see how they gel together. The best option probably is Marchand – Coyle – Lysell
Debrusk – Zacha – Pastrnak
With a few exceptions, this season's Bruins team is a patchwork veteran lineup up of a team that will struggle to make a wildcard.

I guess people are forgetting that Charlie Coyle has been tried multiple times in a Top 6 role and that every time he's been tried in that role, it's gone the EXACT same way
Coyle does okay in that Top 6 role for a while but then the inconsistent scoring and play making seeps back in and eventually Coyle gets moved back down to 3c
So can Coyle work in a Top 6 role in spurts? Sure. And if we agree that's true, what's also 100% true is that Coyle is going to likely fail in any extended long run as a 1c or a 2c.
Do people also forget that the Bruins just tried this experiment two years ago when they tried having Coyle replace Krejci at 2c? How'd that work out again? That's right it didn't, Coyle eventually started to struggle in the role and they moved him back down to 3c
Coyle is a good checking line, bottom 6 center. He is a below average center. Both of those two statements have been proven 100% true over extended periods. Nothing is going to change about that
Pavel Zacha was an unmitigated failure as a Top 6 center in NJ for 6 years. It's why the coaching staff soured on him in NJ. It's why fans in NJ celebrated when Zacha was traded to Boston. It's why Zacha wound up on the Hockey News 2019 Top 10 Draft Busts of the last decade list. He earned it!!!!
When did Zacha have success? After he got traded to Boston where he wasn't asked to be a Top 6 center, wasn't asked to handle the defensive responsibilities of the center position, wasn't asked to be a primary scorer and where he wasn't asked to be a leader
So what happened when Boston REMOVED all of things that caused Zacha to fail in NJ? Zacha found success, as a wing
But sure, let's throw out 6 years of complete failure in NJ as a Top 6 center and the fact that he played wing 95% of the time last year in Boston, NOT CENTER.
Do people also forget Zacha was put into the 1c role vs Florida in the playoffs the last year to replace an injured Bergeron. How'd that work out again?
He went a putrid 43% at the faceoff dot vs Florida (he's a crap 46% on faceoffs for his career btw) and he scored a. WHOPPING ZERO GOALS in the 7 games vs Florida in the playoffs. Not exactly 1c numbers and productions
Also, can we please stop with the Trent Frederic hype and just watch the game tape of Trent Frederic? Hands of stone, can't create offense for others, not a great skater, not great defensively, not a guy that plays much or helps out on special teams.
Also do people forget or not know that Frederic shot nearly TWICE his career shooting % last year. HUGE red flag btw. Do you know how many NHL players shoot TWICE their career shooting% in back to back seasons? The answer? Not many and those NHL players that do manage to pull it off…. Far more talented than Trent Friggin Frederic
4 of the Bruins d-men will be these guys: Forbort, Zboril Shattencrap and Grzelyck. Other than Mason Lohrei the Bruins don't have a single d-man in the AHL that projects as an NHL d-men of any kind. Hell, in their entire crap farm system after Lohrei the Bruins also don't have a single d-man that projects as a sure fire NHL player
Do you think the lack of defensive depth will be an issue should any of McAvoy, Carlo or Lindholm get hurt?
Two centers playing 1c and 2c that aren't Top 6 centers. A bottom 6 full of past their prime vets and AHL tweeners and d-corps with zero depth and no cap space, a decent farm system or draft capital to improve
The Bruins probably won't be bad enough to be a lottery team but they are 100% not going to be a real Cup contender and it's very easy to envision a scenario where they miss the playoffs and are even long out of it before next season's trade deadline
Far too many question marks, guys being asked to do too much, no depth, no draft capital, crap farm system, no cap space
All 100% facts Bruins Homer Nation and the Don Sweeney Apologist Society will continue to ignore as they claim the Bruins will be Cup contenders once again..
They'll find a cure for Cancer long before they find a cure for blind Bruins Homerism
