Is Mike Babcock’s time behind an NHL bench over?

Mike Babcock and the Blue Jackets released a statement last Tuesday denying any wrongdoing by the coach, but less than a week later Babcock is out in Columbus. TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston joins SportsCentre to discuss what changed in that time and if we’ll ever see Babcock behind the bench in the NHL again.

  1. How long before they fire the GM he’s that got organization a mess.

  2. His way back would be working in HR for an NHL team. He's an expert on what to do if you want to get fired.

  3. Red Wings fan here for perspective…

Honestly, lets call a spade a spade. They guy was gifted with STACKED hockey teams during his heyday (Ducks and Wings) and only got one cup. He is overrated regardless of his off ice antics.

And those Team Canada teams could have been coached by a muppet and they still would have won. He benefitted from extremely talented player personnel which gave him the notoriety we saw in 2015.

  4. Fcking Duh….. He should have been done after the Marner incident. How the fck is bullying because you're a coach OK? Yes that dinosaur is done ffs

  5. They are about to reinstate Quennevile and Stan Bowman. So Mike has plenty more second chances to go. 😂😂😂😂. NHL; biggest supporters of recycling trash in the world.

  6. What changed was they actually investigated it & found everything Biz & Whitney said about Babcock being up to his old tricks was 100% accurate, I wouldn't even be surprised if Jenner & Gaudreau were the actual sources to spittin' chicklets.

  7. Someone just give Babcock a card that says: "To do today: Be normal." That will fix everything.

  8. what's the point of giving the guy another coaching job if the microscope is this close. atlanta #3 hires him and, what, we hear he shakes hands in a way someone doesn't like?

  9. Let’s get real. This guy is a freaking weirdo.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up in prison. My guess? DEEPLY CLOSETED PREDATOR!

  10. day 10,236 of TSN not adjusting their volume balance upwards so the video isn't barely audible on max volume.

  11. Read the book by Richard Reay called Bench Boy who won a national university championship with

  12. well i think babcock got lucky theres something wrong in columbus very wrong coaches players wanting to leave torts had enough players wanting out etc etc even gaudrea wanting to go there and yes babcock got wind of something and likei said got lucky hes out if the league investigates they will find out

  13. This better be used as an eye opening experience for the NHL, in regards to Bowman and Quenneville requesting to be re-instated back into the NHL as well. What Babcock has done is 10,000x less terrible than what those guys have done and look how fast Babcock got chased out of the league again, It will be better served by the NHL to out-right deny any possible return to the show for Bowman or Quenneville in any capacity. It will be a travesty worthy of boycotting whatever team wants to hire them as well as boycotting the League for even allowing it to happen if they do get re-instated next, They Can't grow the game of hockey if they keep cutting their own legs out from under themselves.

  14. Babcock will get at least one other opportunity to coach in the NHL, because in the next season or two there will be at least one NHL club in such a deep spiral to nowhere that they'll do anything to shake things up. Trust me, as a longtime Vancouver Canucks fan, I know what that's li… oh crap.

  15. Babcock will coach again but it probably won’t be in the NHL, KHL I don’t see the Scandinavian leagues taking him🤔😏

  16. The Mike Babcock coaching system, coming soon to a U7 league near you! 😆😆

  17. He Won olympic games. He Won world cup. I remember olympic game against Russia, excelent style of play of Canada nationsl team. Thanks Babcock.

  18. CJ is "legacy media". He says what he is told to say, and nothing more. He doesn't want to lose "access" to the teams. SC > *. Hockey_"Media"

  19. He'll be back once the money runs out. 50 million for the Leafs, and 8 million from Columbus for 2 weeks of work. He's a con artist.
