I’m Impressed..

OK Guys, today I want to talk about Joshua Roy, who in my opinion was the biggest standout for the Montreal Canadiens at the recent rookie showcase games. Can Wawa make the team? Lets talk about it!

The articles that were in the video were screenshots from Habsfanatics.com, I highly reccommend you to check out this site for further Habs News,

  1. The bulk of this video was created BEFORE the Tanner Pearson addition. However I do think that if a young prospect like Wawa continues to shine throughout the pre-season, and forces himself into the lineup… Hughes could be forced to make yet another move.

Let me know your thoughts in the land down under! And thanks for watching.

  2. I see him really well being the LW beside Caufield and Suzuki in a couple of years. He’s so smart and he’s gonna be better than a 3rd line guy like everyone thinks. He was able to complement Bedard so well in the WJC and his hockey IQ is absolutely amazing

  3. Can you say his name with respect, it's not wawa but Roy just like Patrick Roy. He's not a fucking dog. Some French Canadian people are following you in case you don't know.

  4. I think Joshua has more than the "Wright stuff" to get a spot on this team! He looks like a player that was born to compete at any level. His development will be fun to watch!

  5. Yes I cross my finger wawa's development will keep evolving. He improved a lot since last year defensively.

  6. I’d like for Roy to make it, because he deserves it not because the habs are lacking upfront. Let’s be clear about this, our biggest weakness is the forward group, Montreal is happy with their Goalies and have 1 billion defensive prospect, but how many offensively talented forwards the CH got maybe 4 or 5 by Montreal standards ?

He has that little spark all the other forwards in Mtl don’t, but it doesn’t mean it should be exposed to the NHL winds before the fire sets properly.

  7. If Wawa isn't officially his nickname among his peers, I might have to start rooting for a different team..

  8. pretty good improvement pal ! (wawa) I have the same name so it's make me smile every time ;p Thx to bring some hockey news everyday with that sense of humor of your. Keep up the good work and see ya tomorrow

  9. Don't forget that he played with Owen Beck. I think they are developing chemistry. They should make a really solid 3rd line.

  10. jSir Junkie…. Throw up on a Video a comparison of Juraj Slafkovskys numbers over the last 3 ears and Josh wawa numbers… throw uo that Graphic … Try it Call up Slaf last 3 years the Wawa last threee years…. doing that hurtz look at the Number of games played and the output then think Number1 overall vs 5th Round… Try it Sir junkie… Hockey DB look them both up😭☠…. Did I repeat myself much… yeppers

  11. roy is an amazing surprise an for the most part i like where the team is going, grow that seed into a lil tree lol

  12. I felt those games were kinda unfair to him, played all 3 periods of all 3 games on the right wing but he can also play center or even left wing and he wasn't allowed to show any of that. Heck they even tried Jared Davidson, a center, on the left side (and he was quite out of place against those much more mature Sabres) or Mesar -pure winger – at center so there was definitely plenty of room to try out some of that with Wawa as well.

  13. He will definitely get a look, and even if he doesnt make the team right out of training camp, im sure he will find his way up when someone either gets injured, or they decide to send someone else down to Laval and call him up, either way, he will get some games im sure. I hope he can transfer that goal scoring to the NHL.

  14. To be honest, Mallioux stood out in the last game while he was playing with Struble and I think that is what is best for him for his D partner: someone that is defense-minded and is willing to let the other to the things. When he played with Ortiz, he sometimes looked completely lost, while he played with Struble, he stopped stressing about defense and he was able to do what he does best. He hit 2 or 3 posts in the last game and was robbed a couple of times by the Ottawa goaltender (by far their best prospect at this showdown).

Meŝar also stood out more in the last game, each time he had the puck on his blade, it felt like the game was going much much faster. He's speedy and shifty and he made a couple of surprising moves. It seems that he's slowly but surely finding his groove on NA ice and NA style of play (I know he had a full season in the OHL, but there's already a big difference between the OHL and the AHL and most players that were playing there were prospects, AHLers or ECHLers).

I've got nothing to say against Roy, his skating has gotten progressively better and he really feels like a diamond in the rough that is slowly but surely getting polished.

Florian Xhekaj also was a surprise for me, he had a fight (not too surprising considering what his brother had done the year prior against that same Ottawa team) and he seems like he has a sneaky shot with a couple of moves in his pockets… it's still early, but I can't imagine, he's 6'3, 180 smt… in 3 years he could be like 6'3-6'5 and about the same weight has Arber… I see him becoming an Anderson-type of player. Probably a long shot, but hey, it's early

Reinbacher also had some flashes that gave reasons why Hughes drafted him. He's super responsible defensively (he backchecked a couple of times while being tired and still managed to outskate forwards), he reads plays in a very intelligent way that makes it easy for him to backcheck. He's got a sneaky shot again and his passes are missiles that looks easy to control for receivers and they were done calmly on most occasions.

I'm not putting any pressure on them, these are my honest reactions after seeing those prospects play. Only time will tell if they all will be paning out.
    In Kent I trust

  15. Sorry Junker, not seeing Roy as anything more than an AHL er😮Our forward prospects are brutal

  16. I hope Roy can at least become a good 2 way player and if he can't make the top 6, can at least be a solid 3rd liner, playing when they can't afford to make a mistake. If his hockey sense is as good as we've seen in the WJC, the Habs might have an important piece to their path towards the Stanley Cup.

  17. I have a feeling that Slafkovsky and Roy will be very good together… the way Roy plays and the way Slafkovsky plays seems to me that they would mesh together so well… Roy can play with Skilled guys but I don’t think he’s every played with a Skilled guy that’s big and create space and Slaf will be that guy in the next 2 years… Slafkovsky Dach and Roy would be an interesting line to try out

  18. Roy's problem is that he only plays when he gets the puck or involved in a rush otherwise he is mostly a spectator.Negative aside we still need his high end hockey IQ because we lack forwards in a real bad way.Right this minute Roy should be on the top line with Nick and Cole there is no other forward that has any potential of being a legit first line.
The only other forward I wanted to see and not sure where he is but Tuch has the size and skating to be a second line player.
I have zero interest in any other prospect forwards.

  19. Yes the camera/recording/broadcasting quality of these prospects games was awful and atrocious. Not even 1080p let alone 4k.

Might as well have captured it with an old android phone.

  20. I think it is him or heinaman that makes the team out of camp and surprise. I want to see both get extended looks on suzuki's wing during pre-season.

  21. I gotta be honest, you are impressed with Wawa because the prospect pool is starting to show its true colours. No top talent up front. Sean Farrell will not be a regular NHLer. Mesar will be looking for a car because he will have to travel so much from the call ups but won’t find a home on the big team. Let’s draft a top 10 forward next draft and hope he can be a top 6. This group doesn’t have it unfortunately.

  22. the way you say his name his hilarious!
Try to say it like it was spelled 'Wrah" , put emphasis on the R

  23. Load up Laval with all these top prospects and let’s go. Let them excel at that level then bring them up. MSL has enough projects for now. Let them get lots of minutes with the rocket 🚀
