I’m probably as big a Hart skeptic as you’ll find in this subreddit, but that blurb on Hart (and ranking him behind guys like Vanecek and Jarry) is wildly, laughably off-base. Pittsburgh has such terrible Little Brother Syndrome that, even when we’re a dumpster fire and they’ve got three Cups in 14 years, they still have to make a big stink about us.

I can’t even start to attempt to compare goalies but I still think Hart can be one of the better goalies in the league. People like to shit on his skill, some aspects rightfully so, but don’t acknowledge the moldy Swiss cheese defense in front of him.

I’d take hart over every name ahead of him except the top 2.
A shitty team could make Patrick Roy look average. In fact a shitty team DID make Carey Price look average for a lot of his career. And a lot of people call him overrated for that reason. But people who know hockey always knew how good Price was.
I don’t think Hart is quite as good as Price, but I think given a competent team Hart will be as good as anyone. There’s just something about seeing a goalie with nearly flawless technique. Price was a guy like that. Quiet, not flashy in goal unless absolutely necessary, no wasted movement. Harts in that same mold, he’s so fundamentally sound.
I’ve never rated the flashy athletic goalies as highly as I rate fundamentally sound “technically perfect” goalies. Guys like Quick, Sorokin, Hasek, Bobrovsky are all undoubtedly great. But I look at them as exploitable and more injury prone as well. They’re so overly aggressive and that’s a flaw to me. Exciting to watch but I just favor good sound technique so much more. Like Hank for me, was a perfect goalie. Luongo, Price, Brodeur, Roy guys in that mold. Hart comes from that same school of goaltending
