It’s Not Fair..

OK Guys, with the Montreal Canadiens training camp well under way, and NHL pre-season about to begin.. It’s just not fair.. That Lane Hutson cannot be apart of it due to NCAA rules. Some habs fans have been excited about individual prospects at camp, while others not so much. However, we cannot forget that defensemen like Lane Hutson, and Adam Engstrom are not available, and amongst the top of the list in terms of talent.

  1. Just to think he's going to have another full year of development before he steps foot into the prospect showcase…

I'm hoping he keeps developing on the same track because he could be an absolute monster at next year's prospect tournament.

  2. I hate these NCAA rules. Like come on! Get up with the times NCAA. I also would be upset if the Habs traded Hutson now. I want to see him try and reach his potential before they consider trading him. Unless it's in a package deal for McDavid.. I'll be less upset..

Having a deep prospect pool list is good for the organization but bad for fans who grow attached to some of these players. I have respect and like Harris and Kovacevic but I have a feeling there will be someone who can offer more and these guys will end up moving at one point to make room for players like Hutson, Mailloux and Reinbacher..

  3. I'm personally not worried about his size singularly, as I am worried about his very, very poor backwards skating. A guy like Svoboda was undersized, but it wasn't an issue because he was an amazing skater both forwards and backwards. He has to fix that or it will be a major non-starter in the big scheme of things, IMHO. That's why I think he'd be brilliant as a forward that plays the point on the pp and can still fill-in on the backend if needed.

  4. Hutson will not get dealt for anybody except Mc Jesus or Bedard. Hutson will be a stud for the Habs. He will get to show us all after his NCAA season ends. Hutson will get some NHL games at the end of the season.

  5. I am OK with this particular situation. The amount of potential that we have in our D prospects is rediculous and some of these guys like Tourigny will benefit from having a little more of the spotlight. Hutson is money in the bank so just have patience. I don't need to watch him drain everyone else's confidence in a preseason scrimmage in a year where his plan is already in place.

  6. If they ever trade the rights of Hudson, and getting a hot dog like Zegras, then what was the point of tanking. The only way you trade Hudson, is if you get a player that is a clone of #99 or #87.

  7. Hutson played in a scrimmage without full force checking and aggression, not much of a sample. Hope he's a offensive force in the Nhl and able to be effective defensively but I hesitate to place any bets. Wait and see, I hold back any anticipation. He needs to pack on some weight, work on backwards skating, gap control and defensive coverage and more. Sorry I don't share the enthusiasm.

  8. im not worried about his size, one of our defensive coaches in mtl is francis bouillon and he was a smaller defenseman as well

  9. This kind of well not kind of but solidifies to me that management does NOT get it when comes to the big picture that is hockey.
Hutson does not have to have any chance of making the team we already know he is going back to college hockey. However OTHER players when they see a really skilled player they learn from that guy they can even pickup on some of the things Lane does and maybe practice that same technique or skill and use it.Winning breeds winning players are not dumb they analyze everything and pick up on it so Lane could have been a big positive for these players sadly management doesn't get it.

  10. you will be upset when he is traded
no room for a munchkin on d.
because of that i consider him a non prospect or nothingburger .he could get 100 points in 40 games…doesnt make him the size you need to be to play in the nhl.can he be on a team and win a cup? no i dont think he can imo.

  11. Montreal hasn’t had someone score 75pts since the salary cap came in…

  12. Agreed Hutson, Xhekaj, Suzuki and Caufield should be the untouchable at this point, the rest I would be open to listen for trade talk, to eventually bring a big keep piece to the offense.

  13. HJ, me and a friend were wondering if you were a Newfie? Like, how else would your Canadian drawl be this perfect?

    Love from Queebland.

  14. His choice to go back to school, with that comes stipulations. Everyone is OK with it it. Sure he is good, but he isn't NHL ready
