He served the organization for 13 years and did a good job at every step, earning promotions. But beyond that what he provided at the rink, away from the rink his fundraising for donations to ALS research is incredible. Chris Snow is a perfect example of bravery and perseverance. He should be remembered as a team legend with a banner, so that people can look and reminisce in the new arena (and dome) about the impact he had long after he’s gone.

hopefully the Flames have a plan in place to support his family.

  3. I disagree with doing this, as in putting pressure on the team to do this.

Would I be happy if the Flames decided to put a Snow banner in the rafters? Sure. But what does Chris’s family want? What does the rest of the organization think is the best way to honour their friend and coworker? Maybe Chris himself had other thoughts that he shared with people close to him. Maybe the people closest to him know he would have loved to have a memorial dedicated to him at the hospital that treated him, who the hell knows.

Again, if the Flames choose to give him a banner, I am thrilled. But I think we should take a step back, this news only came out yesterday, and allow his loved ones some space to grieve. Maybe I’m alone in this, but putting the organization in a position where if they don’t do this one specific thing they are going to feel the wrath of social media etc leaves a bad taste in my mouth as they are all trying to process what has happened themselves. Chris Snow is obviously loved within the organization and I trust they all want to do the right thing and find an appropriate way to honor and remember him too. I suggest that the message we bring is love and support for his family instead of making demands.
