  2. I’m a bruins fan but at the time of this game I was on vacation in Florida and I was happy for two reasons:
I like to root for the underdog
I don’t want the bruins to play the lightning in the second round

  3. Redemption! Congrats to these boys for not letting this sweep get in their way! Stanley cup champions baby!!!

  4. at least were redeemed next year in the bubble thanks Columbus for giving us the motivation to win the Stanley cup

  5. the humble pie that the bolts ate was so damning, they ended up winning back to back cups

but this series is what fueled it

  6. This is why the President's Trophy is a "curse". Very seldom does a team that wins the President's Trophy win the Stanley Cup. The Lightning of 2018-19 were too complacent and were not really challenged during that season, so when they were faced with adversity they didn't know how to react. I am not a Lightning fan, but Tampa Bay knew they had to get grittier after this humbling series.

Skill does not win championships alone, that's what the 2018-19 Lightning had, a lot of skill and finesse, but no grit. Teams that tried to win on skill and skill alone, failed. The Washington Capitals tried it for so many years, until they broke through in 2018. After my Penguins won the cup in 2009, they tried to think they could outscore other teams to win another cup from 2010-15, and that recipe failed.

I always say if you do not have goaltending and cannot defend, you're not going anywhere in the playoffs. I don't care how potent your offense is and how many goals can be scored the postseason is a different animal than the regular season, goaltending, defense, and scoring timely goals are what win Stanley Cups, in that order.

  7. Imagine how much money you would’ve won if you bet on Columbus sweeping the series after the first period of this game 😂
