That was a really impressive game from Ed last night.
Led the team in ice time, playing with the B team against the capitals A team. Had a 5v5 1A, 52.9% CF, 51.7% FF, 54.6% xGF, 71.4% HDCF and a 1.48 GS.
The only other players that ended up nearly as good were the AHLers that played sheltered minutes, and his partner.
I think he’s been the Wings’ best defenseman in the preseason so far.
Really encouraged to see Edvinsson and Sprong have a great game! I didn’t think Kasper was a standout last night but still many games to go.
I’ve seen lots of projections of Edvinsson maxing out as a solid 3D/4D on a cup contending team. This always seems low to me, but I get that he has shown himself to take unnecessary risks and make mistakes at times trying to drive plays. He has some of the same problems Owen Power has been working through. But seeing how well he bounced back from injury, I don’t think it’s crazy for him to develop into a top pair guy (or a 1A/1B situation). I hope this storyline can play out this year so that we have a better idea of what we have in Edvinsson but the defensive depth is going to make that really tough.
Well it’s only been 2 preseason games, but I’m comfortable giving Edvinsson a spot on the main squad to start the season already. Kid has looked real good to my eyes
Ty Smith on waivers makes me feel even better about my Smith for Zadina trade proposal last summer. You have to think someone takes a chance on potential ( not us with our D depth now)
Keep Ed up and keep Sprong and Fabbri together. Also, trade Reimer to Tampa Bay and keep Lyon as the backup.
