Comrie played well, the Pens just had a better lineup.
Comrie looked good , but both UPL and Comrie were INCONSISTENT last season which scares me!
Wayne would you carry 3 goalies 7 D and 13 forwards to start the season or would you risk sending UPL down to Rochester as remember he has to clear waivers before going to Rochester.
Comrie did look really good, but I also don't wanna hate on UPL. This was Comries 2nd game…and he improved. When UPL plays again (for his 2nd game) then we can judge if he got better or not. I think that would then be an apples to apples comparison to Comrie. I thought they were gonna score to tie it up also but Tage just lost control and that ended it. They made big roster cuts today…so the really impressive guys are still around.
A UPL trade would be good for both, the sabres and UPL.
If Granato does what I expectā¦ Levi gets the next start at home.. UPL in Columbusā¦ then probably play fodder for Pitt just to keep my guys healthy for the 12thā¦. That said.. UPL looked like the rookie that LEVI isā¦ he looked just as bad as last year.. heās horrid in shootout/breakawaysā¦ I think Dahlin would do a better job back there (and has)ā¦ and heās not even a goalieā¦ Fact is.. UPLās ECHL numbers are average.. his AHL numbers.. average.. by now those should have been WOWā¦ but theyāve been rookie.. and last year.. poor backup leel numbers.. yeah, he won alot of games.. well, thatās because the sabres scored alot of goals.. and if they hadnāt been 2nd in the league.. his W/L record would have been BAD!.. Time to move on.. Leinonen and Strbak will be the new top goalie specsā¦ UPL to me, has played himself out of the picture.. If you canāt move him.. waive him and send him down.. and pray that he gets reps and shows he donāt belong there but up in Buffaloā¦ Sadly, I expect heās show that heāll be the 2nd best goalie on our ECHL team. ( behind Cooley, Houser and Tokarski in our minors.) Sadly, I donāt think Heāll look better whether he plays again or half the season. His game seems to be based on his size. He plays big and hopes the shot hits him. He doesnāt react to players well which is why his shootout numbers areā¦ 0
Shed the weight now UPL needs to go
The way that Iām looking at these last two games is, I have Comrie 1 – UPL 0. Itās that simple. Comrie stopped more high quality chances, against a higher skilled roster and his Sv% is night and day compared to UPLās.
I got mad after the second Pittsburgh goal. The line of young kids were standing around and I was like oh shit here it comes. Then Pittsburgh scored lol. Hopefully our regular lineup is ready to overcome that.
I thought Comrie looked really good in that game and he stopped a breakaway or two. It just drives me crazy when the puck is like 3 feet in front of him in the crease, and he refuses to dive on the puck. That led to several goals against him last year, and it drove me crazy. Devon Levi will jump right on those.
Hang on to UPL for the time being. Not saying this because I am a fan of his but some teams out there are very weak in goal and will take their chances on a healthy Goaltender and give us some compensation for him. Need to get something back in a trade for all the efforts the Sabres have made to get him to improve.
