He retires as the all time leader in consecutive games played with 989. It’s a remarkable feat.

  1. I remember him as fairly consistently one of the better pure offensive D-men in the league in the last decade. If you needed offence from your blue line, he was always a good pick. I'm surprised no Cup contenders picked him up at the deadline (besides the Rangers, I guess). He seemed like the perfect trade deadline pick up for a contending team looking to add offensive depth to the back end. If you can consistently put up 40-60 points back there, you'll have a job in the NHL.

  2. he seemed like a good on ice leader as well so I'm mildly surprised he was never a captain. Yandle was fantastic in EA games, he's one of those players that almost exclusively dishes the puck(which I guess is accurate), with a good Florida team around him I could get him to 60 points consistently into his mid 30s.

I remember when he signed that, what, 7 year deal with the Panthers? 6.75 million dollar cap hit? I was sure that was getting bought out at some point when they signed it 🤣

  3. This is probably a controversial or maybe just a downright awful take but I don't hold these "iron man" streaks in very high regard.

As someone who has watched a lot of Panthers Keith Yandle was one of the most frustrating players I've ever watched. I've never seen a guy avoid contact or any extra effort as much as him, especially given how much ice time he had in a team that was trying to contend. Now I understand how impressive it is to play hundreds of games without injury, hell even playing a full 82 games is impressive, but if you are chasing some record instead of The Cup you're in the wrong place. That said, I do think the Flyers did Yandle dirty when they scratched him since that team was going nowhere.

  4. That’s tough for this flyers legend to have to deal with. He sets the iron man record & will immediately get passed by Phil Kessel of all players.

  5. I'll admit, I love Ironman streaks. I think its something Everyday Joe can relate to, going to work everyday, dealing with pain and fatigue, but doing what you gotta do.

  6. I'm gonna show how the flyers screwed Yandle, he was 11 games away from 1000 and the funny thing is when they scratched him they were 15 games away from the season being done he was back 3 days later and he played 10 out of those 15 games and the Fylers had 61 points they needed 40 points to make the playoffs it was pointless then and its pointless now.

  7. Does the nhl just like to not show preseason games or what? I watch all my hockey on a free app but none of the games will come on? Sometimes they come on and frezze? Also does anyone know much about sportsnet now? How do you get it and whats the cost

  8. I liked his game during his brief stint with the Rangers, but he was not an AV-style defenseman (aka a traffic cone) so it was a terrible fit. You can’t have all your dmen be playmakers first and foremost but I think you need a mix, and as far as the offensive-minded guys went he was good at what he did.

  9. probably the worst defenseman I ever watched. 2021 had 1 goal and his +/_ was -47
Nothing at all about Yandle was 'iron'.

  10. 84 regular season games played in 14-15. I'd be filing a grievance if I were Yandle.

  11. cant forget him getting hit in the face with the puck and not missing games. getting dental work in between games. not the toughest but pretty damn tough gotta respect him regardless

  12. Playing that many games in a row is impressive even if you never threw a hit. You could break a foot or hand blocking a shot, get concussed, pull a muscle from skating, have a freak skate blade injury, you name it.

  13. Keith Yandle played so many consecutive games he went back in time! That's some dedication right there.

  14. Doug Jarvis won the Selke. Doug Jarvis won 4 Stanley Cups with Montreal as a player. 2 more Cups as as assistant coach with Dallas and Boston. Doug Jarvis should be inducted!

  15. Out of Jarvis, Kessel and Yandle it's actually Yandle who has played the most physical style of hockey between the three if you compare some numbers.

Yandle had 0:33 PIM/GP with 6 major penalties and 9 Misconduct penalties.

Jarvis had 0:16 PIM/GP with 1 major penalty, 1 Misconduct penalty, 1 Game Misconduct.

Kessel has 0:18 PIM/GP with 2 major penalties, 2 Misconduct penalties.

  16. Yandle was a great defencemen for the Coyotes. He was dependable, and had consistent points totals. He never really go the recognition he probably deserved with the Coyotes but he was a fan favorite behind Doan.

  17. Next career video ideas: Robert Reichel, Vladimir Malakhov, Darius Kasparaitis, Samuel Pahlsson, Miroslav Satan, Mariusz Czerkawski, Jere Lehtinen =)))

  18. i hate that argument so much. if it's so easy to do it just because of Yandle's playstyle, why hasn't anyone else who plays like him come anywhere close to it?

  19. He finished his career at -103, which means lots of goals were scored against the teams he played for while he was on the ice. -47 with Flyers, -26 with Florida, -30 with Phoenix.
