  1. i know its meant to be exotic etc, but its double the RRP of the Sony GM 135 f1.8 and I just dont think that it is a big enough step up from that lens to justify 2x the price… diminishing returns

  2. Nikon have really outdone themselves here. This is a future-proof lens, as far as lenses go – great to see optical corrections are coming back into fashion, after years where we've seen everything done in post-processing!

  3. As a Sony user, I'm a little envious of Nikon when it comes to their lenses because usually their prices on the S-line look very reasonable!

  4. You must compare it to the F-mount 105mm 1.4 for us who are still holding on to the D850. Is this release the reason for us enthusiasts to make the leap to mirrorless, now?

  5. I guess the super monster lens is your way! Not my choice! So it's sharp! Price? Price? I can guess, chasing Banker and CEO prices of Leica. One word nuts!

  6. Z 135mm. Plena: "la plenitud de la imagen perfecta…"
Sorry Matt, Plena is a spanish word: "the plenitude of the perfect image…"
    Thanks for sharing.
    Best regards from Spain.
    NANO.

  7. When the z6 and z7 first came out a lot of people were disappointed with the focusing system as compared to Sony and Canon. And they weren't all that great until the last firmware update which brought them close to the same level as the z6ii and z7 II. People were saying Nikon was dead. Jared Polin and the Northrups jumped ship. Canon and Sony have some great lenses but they also have a lot of mediocre lenses that are just ok. Nikon put more effort into their lenses than cameras. I know why now. I think Nikon has one of the best lens lineups. The reason why they put the lenses first is because you date the camera but marry the lenses. Cameras are always being replaced because of advances in technology. Lenses can last a lifetime. The z mount is the king of mounts. Nikon knew what they were doing agent they were spending more time on lenses. A lot of people got impatient and left to go to Sony or Canon. Nikon is finally rolling out the camera bodies in the 3rd generation cameras that are up there with the rest. And we have the lens lineup to go with these new bodies. What an exciting time!

  8. Ordered mine the moment I woke up on preorder morning. Plena Preorder preceded proper procedure, aka, I bought before I even brushed my teeth for the day

  9. Wow… when I saw how heavy this lens is and how much it should cost, it makes me seriously think about a system change, away from the Z system. It's all out of date!

  10. Please do a comparison of the Plena, the F mount 105mm F1.4 and the 85mm F1.2S when you get a chance. Looking forward to more on the Plena! Thanks.

  11. Absolutely wonderful lense but at 3k€ it is limited to less than 1% of people having a Nikon… and it s a pity that Nikon builds now very expensive lenses such these 2 ones and very cheap but plasticky such as tha 28 and 40mm… I do regret the time of the AI line build with all the same quality and having only a x2 price factor between the normal and the quickest ones. It’s also a pity Nikon didn’t produce a F2Zd adapter permitting to keep the autofocus with non AFS lenses. This could give access to some fabulous lense such as the afd 85mm,f1.4, .105mm f2 dc and 135mm f2 dc… wihich are probably less sharp than these new Z lenses (even if for portraits I am sure you need to add some softness in post with the new ones) but are 1/5 of the price un excellent conditions on second hand. It s probably more difficult to build than an FTZ 1 or 2 (which are already sold at prohibited prices) but Sony did it with its LA-EA5… so it s not impossible. Never mind as commission of YouTubers prosumers are based on a percentage of these extra expensive lenses I am sure there will be a lot of videos on it (:)) and this one is really well made.

  12. I just love your videos! I would love to own this lens someday. I’m still on the the journey of converting to all Z mounts lens. Melbourne looks amazing!
