  1. Marner had the exact same scenario set up in front of Hellebuyck as Connor did. Wide open shot. One goalie made the save when needed. One goalie fished the puck out of the net. Enough said!

  2. I thought the Leafs were supposed to be invincible after sweeping the Oilers? Oh, I guess not. One more loss and the Habs, Jets, and Oilers are within striking distance.

  3. I thought I was the only one who could immediately tell when Freddy wasn’t 100%

  4. What about the prospect of trading an Andersen, Kerfoot, Dermott all in the same deal?
Hear me out when I write this down but it's kinda a biggie and I don't think this will happen in full confidence but it is worth a shot!?
So three-team trade must occur for this to work
    Toronto would trade:
    – Fredrick Andersen ( Remaining Daily Cap Hit: $2,586,207 UFA after this season )
    – Alexander Kerfoot ( Remaining Daily Cap Hit: $1,810,345 1 year left of his deal with a cap hit of 3.5mil after this season )
    – Travis Dermott ( Remaining Daily Cap Hit: $452,134 UFA after this season )
If Dermott is kept then a depth winger and either a 2021/or 2022 conditional 1st round pick or Dermott, depth fwd and the 1st rounder.
The second-team involved would be Columbus and they would trade the following:
    – Nick Foligno ( Remaining Daily Cap Hit: $2,844,828 UFA after this season )
    – David Savard ( Remaining Daily Cap Hit: $2,198,276 UFA after this season )
    – Joonas Korpisalo ( Remaining Daily Cap Hit: $1,448,276 1 year left of his deal with a cap hit of 2.8mil after this season )
    – 2021 or 2022 Mid round pick
The third team involved would be the Nashville Predators and they would have the following players up:
    – Mark Boroweicki ( Remaining0 Daily Cap Hit: $1,034,483 1 year left of his deal with a cap hit of 2mil after this season )
    – Jusse Saros ( Remaining Daily Cap Hit: $775,862 RFA after this season )
    – Victor Arvidsson ( Remaining Daily Cap Hit: $2,198,276 3 years left of his deal at a cap hit of 4.25mil after this season )

    Toronto has no cap space.
Nashville has $2,860,611 in cap space.
Columbus has $1,571,197 in cap space.

    so what happens is this:
    Toronto receives:
Nick Foligno ( $2,200,000 against the cap )
David Savard ( $1,099,138 against the cap that Nashville retains )
Jusse Saros ( $775,862 against the cap )
Mark Borowiecki ( $1,034,483 against the cap )

    Columbus recieves:
Victor Arvidsson ( $2,198,276 against the cap )
Fredrick Andersen ( $2,586,207 against the cap )
Leafs depth fwd ( my money is on Petan )

    Nashville recieves:
Conditional 2021/2022 1st round pick ( If the Leafs make it to the Conference Finals Nashville will receive the 2021 1st round pick. If the Leafs do not Nashville would then receive the 2022 1st round pick. )
Travis Dermott ( $452,134 against the cap )
Joonas Korpisalo ( $1,448,276 against the cap )
Alexander Kerfoot ( $1,810,345 against the cap )
    Columbus 2021/2022 mid round pick

    Toronto cap hit leaving:
    $5,298,686
Toronto cap hit gained after trades:
    $5,154,311
    cap gained: + $144,375

    Nashville cap hit leaving:
    $4,008,621
    Nashville cap hit gained:
    $4,809,893 ( $1,099,138 is retained for David Savard )
    cap gained: – $801,272
    remaining cap before trade: $2,860,611
    remaining cap after trade: $2,059,339

    Columbus cap hit leaving:
    $6,491,380
    Columbus cap hit gained:
$5,429,311 ( $644,828 retained for Nick Foligno for Nic Petan )
    cap gained: +$1,062,069
    remaining cap before trade: $1,571,197
    remaining cap after trade: $2,633,266

    Toronto gains:
    – Gritty top six forward to play with either the Matthews/Marner line or the Tavares/Nylander line
    – Possible future 1A goalie to play alongside Jack Campbell
    – Immaculate defensive depth that can withstand more than 2 rounds going into the playoffs
    – Little bit of wiggle room if the Leafs would like to make another deal for a 3rd Line Vet centre (Staal, Glendening, other cheaper options that don't come to mind?!? )
    – Grit and Skill ( Borowiecki, Savard and Foligno all fall under that category! )
    – Additional leadership!

    Toronto loses:
    – Veteran Goalie who has been loyal to the team for a few years
    – Kerfoot who may or may not have worked out in Toronto but wasn't given the time or proper development under the Leafs system
    – Dermott who is still a young defenceman in the NHL and has plenty of time to improve into a Top 4 Guy
    – 1st Round pick who may or may not be a winner or bust
    – the possibility of keeping either Savard or Foligno or both.

    Columbus gains:
    – Scoring prowness which has been a huge problem in the past couple of years
    – A veteran goalie who may or may not thrive under a new defensive minded system and with a better d core.
    – Bottom six help with their acquisition whether it is a minor player or a NHL regular
    – Depth throughout their roster
    – An extended competitive window
    – Cap Space which is more important for small market teams like Columbus

    Columbus loses:
    – Leadership ( Foligno is their current captain and that'll be a big hole to fill )
    – Defense ( Savard is a great penalty killer and one of the best shot blockers in the league )
    – Grit ( Savard and Foligno are bad to the bone gritty dudes )
    – Certainty over their goaltending situation ( Nobody knows if Andersen will resign after this season much less if Columbus will have the cap to sign him or if they will roll with Merzlikins as the #1 after this season and search for a cheaper #2 )
    – Certainty over their future in general?! If they don't win a cup here and Torts goes what now?!? This teams identity might have to completely change if Torts leaves.

    Nashville gains:
    – A transitional goalie until Askarov gets adjusted to the NHL level. I don't believe Rinne resigns so Korpisalo would try to make a case on a rebuilding team to get a good contract on another team or with Nashville )
    – A future Top 4 D Man in Dermott ( If he get proper development and mins he can turn into a great defenceman )
    – Another chance at a 1st Overall pick with the Leafs 1st alongside their 1st rounder as well.
    – Draft capita
    – a possible Top 2 centre in Kerfoot

    Nashville loses:
    – A little bit of cap space but only for the rest of the season
    – Uncertainty with their franchise direction
    – Victor Arvidsson
    – An identity

Sorry for the long read Dangle! Hopefully this can get discussed in the SDP

  5. Dear Mr Dangle, manipulating divisions so your club can be atop a weaker division, should not make it any easier for you to be a cup winner. Thankfully, there are teams such as Boston that are waiting to play Toronto, those teams have been knocking each other out and can you imagine what they may think if they face a team that had it nice and comfy. Street hardened vs Sofa hardened.

  6. still prefer the old microphone. difficult to articulate why, but i listen to all of these with a decent pair of headphones, and the new microphone just doesn't have the immediacy or presence of the old one. sigh.

  7. Steve I'm a massive leaf fan that lives in Melbourne Australia but watches every leaf game. We need better goaltending. Period. Goalies can win series easily in playoffs. Not a bad thing that Freddie sits and watches. Need to play soup more. But he seems fragile. Hope we work this out before it's to late. Love your energy bud. Keep up the great work.

  8. Do you think the D is more cautous when any of the backups are in and too comfortable when Anderson is in net cause it seems they hang him out to dry a lot.

  9. Brah … nobody cares about your stupid analysis . You got famous because of your rants and freakouts… If you don't get back to that i'm going to have to unsubscribe … I am here for triggered leafs fans .. Nobody cares about analysis of a trash tream . WE WANT RANTS
