  1. I've watched Sokolov everytime Laval played him and I keep wondering why this guy hasn't made Ottawa yet. There has to be a good reason. There's something wrong there. I'm not sure the Habs should pick him up.

  2. I have no doubt that Sokolov would be claimed by Hughes, let's be honest here , preseason was mediocre to say the least , not lot to brag about about about some players,

  3. Norlinder is there because they know he can go back down through waivers and not lose him. Finally someone makes sense all those young players working their butts off to make the team the last thing the manager should do is disrespect those players bringing in very ho hum free agents.Newhook is a ho hum he will never be a big producer and even Dach we gave up a first round pick for him nobody should be satisifed with a 60 pt first round pick.
The best manager in the history of hockey "Sammy Pollock" went after draft picks he wasn't trading away first picks for 2nd and 3rd liners.

  4. I brought up norlinder after his first game on this channel. This guy is mark Streit reincarnated and he’s a right hand, last year the habs weak side was the right side now with Mailloux, norlinder, reinbacher, kovacevik looks like the left side is a little light 😂

  5. Mailloux…you never get too late in the NHL, 40 games minimum in the AHL let him burn the league.🔥

  6. Regarding the cap management:

This is going to be detailed but very important/intricate. Cap watchers, have at it!

    There are three goals:

    a. get as close as possible to the $83,500,000 limit with Price on the cap;

    b. do not risk losing anyone on waivers you are not ok with losing for nothing

    c. minimize the demotions of players with ELC bonuses since their bonuses will count when brought up

Guys we cannot waive or demote:

    Price (injured)

    Gallagher (NMC)

Reinbacher (already loaned to Swiss league)

The guys we can put on waivers and expect no one to claim them are:

    Armia

    Allen

Guys we can waive and don't mind if they are taken:

Primeau (assumes Allen is ahead of him and we don't want to run three goalies)

    Lindstrom

Bonus amounts and cap hit if demoted and recalled:

$3.500M bonus; Slafkovsky cap hit becomes $4,450,000

$0.420M bonus; Guhle cap hit becomes $1,283,333

$0.275M bonus: Barron cap hit becomes $1,200,000

avoid demoting these three if possible

$0.557M bonus; Farrell cap hit becomes $1,455,000 (already demoted)

note: Habs probably don't see recall as likely except on emergency basis

All other ELC bonuses are less than $83k and resulting cap hits $925k or less

Cap moves to make, starting from today's roster of 30:

    1. waive Armia and Allen – no one will take them

    2. waive Lindstrom & Primeau

not likely taken but don't care a lot

    3. demote Heineman & Norlinder – both waiver exempt

    4. paper demote Harris and Xhekaj – also waiver exempt

    5. place Price

    6. roster is either 20 (13+5+2) + Dvorak/Wideman on regular IR, or 22 men including them

    7.

    8. after compliance, Price goes on LTIR

    9. recall Allen, Harris & Xhekaj – now 22 active players (13+7+2) plus Wideman/Dvorak on IR

    10. bring up Armia as 14th F while Dvorak is on IR

    11. waive Wideman when healed

    12. replace Armia with Dvorak when Dvorak is healed, if no new injury to any F

All three original goals are met. Voila!

  7. The problem with all our youngsters going to Laval? They will be coached by Houle. This coach sucks.
First a bad Houle in management and now a bad Houle in coaching.

  8. On a video last season, I commented that there were four ways to build a roster, the draft, trades, FA and waivers. Someone replied that you're not going to find a top six forward or anyone of value on waivers. My reply was correct you're not going to find a top six forward or top pairing d-man but you can improve you're bottom six or defensive depth, such as a P.Byron, B.Kulak, S.Montembeault or J.Kovacevic.

  9. Logan is the Habs best Dman …He will do well to work on his game in Laval …When he comes up to the NHL he will be ready …Good move
